PITTSBURGH – The Sun Devils picked up a big, much-needed road win against No. 29 Pittsburgh on Sunday at the Fitzgerald Field House, 21-20, courtesy of a bonus-point win from Jacori Teemer.
Trailing 20-14 heading into the heavyweight bout, No. 5 Cohlton Schultz was nearing a win against No. 12 Dayton Pitzer. In the third, however, Pitzer went down with a shoulder injury and defaulted, tying the match at 20 apiece. The Sun Devils then notched the deciding point on criteria.
It was a fast and emphatic start for the Sun Devils, who grabbed four of the first six bouts of the afternoon. Jacori Teemer's tech fall victory against Jared Keslar, 6:33 into his match, was a massive boost for the Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils now lead the all-time series between Pittsburgh, 4-2, with the Sun Devils going 3-1 on the road.
