Final X Preview
Schultz is going for his third consecutive Senior World Team. The three-time All-American defeated Jacob Mitchell in 2021 to make the senior team and defeated Tanner Farmer at last year's Final X. Schultz is coming off the US Open where he won his third title at the event and second consecutive at GR 130 kg. This year Schultz will line up opposite three-time NCAA All-American and two-time finalist Adam Coon at Final X.

Two-time National Team member and two-time NCAA Champion Zahid Valencia was the Final X runner-up in 2018 after winning the World TeamTrials. He followed that by taking second at the 2019 WTT Challenge Tournament before winning Senior Nationals that December. Valencia was swept by David Taylor in 2022's Final X. This year Valencia jumped from 86 kg to 92 kg ahead of the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament and won handedly, picking up 6-2, 12-2 and 12-1 victories. Valencia's opponent Michael Macchiavello has been out of college since 2018 and is a two-time NCAA qualifier. He won the 197 title in 2018 and in 2023 won the US Open at 92 kg.

Other names to watch
The Sunkist Kids will be well represented at this year's Final X. Schultz and Valencia are both wrestling on behalf of the RTC, and the club is sending an additional 13 wrestlers to New Jersey to compete for spots on the national team. This group is highlighted by Sun Devil student Kennedy Blades (76 kg), Helen Maroulis (57 kg), Kayla Miracle ( 62 kg) and wrestling legend Jordan Burroughs (79 kg).
