TEMPE – After a solid weekend at the Cactus Classic to start the season, Sun Devil Beach Volleyball shifts gears to the Pac-12 South Tournament in Los Angeles this weekend, competing against Pac-12 foes Utah, No. 1 UCLA and No. 7 Stanford on March 4-5.

Schedule and How To Follow:
On Saturday, the Sand Devils look to extend their winning streak to three by taking on Utah at 9 a.m. MST, then their second contest of the day will be against UCLA at 1 p.m. MST. Concluding the weekend, they'll face off against Stanford at 9 a.m. MST.

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (3-1, 1-0 Pac-12)
  • The Sand Devils will look to extend their winning streak to three this weekend, including staying undefeated all-time against Utah.
  • Two duos of Sand Devils went undefeated over the weekend. Senior Sarah Waters and junior Taryn Ames won four matches along with the freshman duo of Adriana Nieves Papaleo and Carys Thomas.
  • Over the weekend, Waters and senior Lexi Sweeney reached 34 career individual wins to move into a tie for 10th in the ASU record book.
  • Sophomore Kylie Wickley played on court one for the first time in her career, pairing with Sweeney. She moved into the top 25 for career wins at ASU with 19.
  • The team will wish to extend their winning streak over the Utes this weekend to five-straight wins. The group will also look to snap losing streaks against UCLA and Stanford.

Opponent Outlook:
Utah (2-2, 0-0 Pac-12)
  • The Utes are currently 2-2 this season after playing the weekend in San Jose, Calif. In 2022, the group went 5-19.
  • ASU has won four-straight matches over Utah, including three-straight sweeps when they've faced each other.

No. 1 UCLA (6-0, 2-0 Pac-12)
  • The No. 1 ranked team in the country went 6-0 last weekend in the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. They defeated No. 9 Stanford twice, 3-2 and 4-1.
  • Last year, the Bruins went 34-9 en route to making it all the way to the contender's bracket final before falling to Florida State.
  • The Sand Devils have not beaten the Bruins since 2015. 

No. 7 Stanford (4-2, 0-2 Pac-12)
  • The Cardinal currently sit at 4-2 after suffering two defeats against the No. 1 Bruins in the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic, but came away with two wins over No. 10 Hawaii.
  • In the 2022 campaign, Stanford went 24-12 after falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Sand Devils are looking for their first win over the Cardinal since 2019.
  • ASU looks to snap an eight-dual losing streak to Stanford. The last win came in 2019 at the Pac-12 Championships.
