TEMPE, Ariz.- Sun Devil Swim and Dive is back in action at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in which they're set to host UNLV on Friday at 2 p.m. MST.

LAST TIME OUT
The Sun Devils opened their season at home as they hosted the Georgia Bulldogs on Sept. 22 and Sept. 23. They swam LCM (traditional Olympic length) events in the season opener on Sept. 22 and SCY events in the meet on Sept. 23.
 
The Sun Devil men topped the Bulldogs both days, 89.5-49.5 on the Friday meet and 183-117 on Saturday.
 
The women's team will be looking for their first win of the season on Friday against the Rebels. They were bested in the season opener against Georgia (48-87) and fell the following day to the Bulldogs, 111-184.
 
Freshman Ilya Kharun broke the school record in the 100 fly with a time of 44.88 in the Saturday meet against Georgia. Additionally, junior Léon Marchand went undefeated in the opening weekend against the Bulldogs, winning the 200m IM, 150m breast, 100 breast and 200 breast individually.
 
 
REBELS PREVIEW
This will be the season opener for both UNLV squads as the Rebels held their Scarlet and Grey Intrasquad Meet this past Friday.
 
Senior McKay Mickelson and junior Bryson Huey both earned U.S. Olympic Trial cuts to headline offseason success for the Rebels. Mickelson's trial time came in the 200m back (2:01.49) at the Futures Championships, while Huey notched his mark in the 50m free (22.42) at the TYR Pro Championships.
 
The men's 200 free relay made an appearance at the 2023 NCAA Championships which includes returners Huey, senior George Ratiu and graduate student Steven Butler.
 
Senior Blanka Bokros swam the 200 and 100 fly at this past season's NCAA Championships. She set a Mountain West and school record in the 200 fly last season with a time of 1:55.44.
 
 
RECORD BREAKERS
Kharun already made his mark on the Sun Devil Swim and Dive record board in just his second collegiate meet.

Last season, Marchand won three NCAA Championships in the 200 IM, 200 breast and 400 IM, setting NCAA records in each of those.
 
The Sun Devil men won their first conference championship in program history last season and were runner-ups at NCAA Championships for the highest finish at NCAA's in program history.
 
Lindsay Looney set a school record in the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.25 last season and currently holds all ten top-10 times in program history.

WHEN THEY LAST MET
The Sun Devils last faced the Rebels on Oct. 24, 2015 right here in Tempe where both team picked up wins against UNLV.
 
 
BOB BOWMAN INDUCTED INTO INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING HALL OF FAME
Head coach Bob Bowman was recently inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
 
Bowman, who is currently in his ninth year with the Sun Devils, was one of 13 inductees as he was recognized as an honor coach representing the U.S. Joining him in being inducted into the ISHOF was Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time who Bowman was the longtime coach of.
