Opening Statement
"We have to be able to finish the meet a little stronger. We had the lead, it wasn't huge, but we had the lead going into the last event. We have to be able to do our job and match what they do on beam, on the floor. It was just a little shaky on vault to start, then we bounced back well on bars, beam did a solid job as well. We have to be able to finish the competition and put that fourth event together. It is a solid meet but we have got to put together a complete meet. We are capable of that and we have to focus on that with UofA coming up."
On Sarah Clark's performance tonight
"Sarah, we need her in there. Floor didn't go great, but she will get another chance. She is a great gymnast. She is definitely someone we want out there to rely on, and we do. On bars and beam, she showed up today really strong. She came back and worked hard on the beam after a shaky routine last week, and she nailed it."
On the most encouraging thing he saw
"We're getting people back and participating. We're starting to get some of that depth back that we need so we can go out and tinker with these lineups and see what's going to work the best for us. That's one of the big encouraging things for me. Getting back to full strength will certainly help us in the long run."
On the upcoming Territorial Cup meet
"It's the rivalry and so it's going to get made up to be a big week, but for me I'll evaluate what we did this week. What we did well and what we need to work on and put together a performance we really want to put together. That's the bottom line. That's what's going to put us in the best position to get the Territorial Cup point and do what we want to do. The focus is going to continue to be on the performance and not the other stuff."
Junior Jada Mangahas
On competing the same time as wrestling
"I think it's a really cool opportunity to have both teams in the same room. It's definitely really loud, but I think it gave us more energy and we fed off of their crowd. It was cool to have both our crowds here in the same arena. It was pretty packed in there and I thought it was a great opportunity to have."
On switching back to three events from one event
"It's nice to rest and then now come back and focus on just getting my numbers in. My mind was ready for those events. It was a nice week off but it was good to come back. I knew I would be ready for those events and be able to perform for my team and give it my all no matter what happens."
On the upcoming territorial cup
"A lot of us love this meet and I know especially for me this is my favorite meet. Playing against UofA brings fire to us and we always get so excited for this one. This meet coming up is where we want to get those details in, dial everything in, and bring all of our energy into this. I am hoping all of those things come together."
Junior Emily White
On having momentum and paying attention to scores in a close meet
"I knew that there had been a fall before, so I was a little bit nervous about that, so I tried to just focus on doing the same passes I do everything single day. I tried to focus on the technique of things and not getting caught up in the scores. I wasn't even looking at the scores until after my routine. I usually do that to try to stay calm and in the moment."
On competing the same time as wrestling
"It was definitely loud at times but we stayed in the zone and didn't get distracted by it. For me, it was more of the setup. Being at home, things got switched around, but I think we did a pretty great job of trying to keep wrestling over there and stay in our zone."
On improving landings
"We have been focusing on bar landings, and especially beam landings. We did a pretty good job this meet but that is something we will work on more. We got too tight today, so we just got to loosen up and be comfortable."
