The Coyotes' rookies will compete against the Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, and Colorado Avalanche rookies in the round-robin tournament featuring rookies from each team. All participating teams will each play three games over the weekend.

In his lone season with the Maroon and Gold, Theisen served as the Sun Devils captain during the 2021-2022 season where he put up 19 goals and 12 assists. He recorded over 100 points in his collegiate career, had a six-game point streak in 2021-22, and ended the year tied at third in program history for single-season assists (23). Off the ice, Theisen earned ACHA Academic All-America honors.

Theisen transferred to Arizona State after four seasons at Notre Dame where he earned Rookie of the Year, ACHA All-American Scholar, and 3x Academic All-Big Ten honors. The 6-foot, 187-pound forward played junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, and served as an assistant captain during the 2016-2017 season. He skated in 121 games with Dubuque, recording 92 points with 52 goals and 40 assists. Following graduation from ASU, Theisen helped the Tucson Roadrunners close out their final 16 games of the 2021-22 season by scoring five goals and six assists.

Theisen was one of six Sun Devils to sign a professional contract after last season. The six, including four forwards and two defensemen, set the record for the most professional contracts signed after a season in program history.
