SEATTLE – In the opening acts of the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Swimming Championships, the foursome of Erica Laning, Emma Nordin, Lindsay Looney and Erin Milligan earned a third-place finish in the 800 free relay, teaming up to touch the wall at 7:03.49, the fifth-fastest time recorded in program history.

The Sun Devils, after a first night of competition that featured just the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay, collected 102 total points.

In the 200 medley relay, Charli Brown, Iza Adame, Jade Foelske and Natalia Fryckowska combined to go 1:38.22 to finish sixth amongst all participating quartets.

COACH'S WORDS
Head coach Bob Bowman: "Our women swam a strong race tonight in improving 5 seconds from our mid season time. We are looking forward to the start of the individual events tomorrow."

Thursday will feature an action-packed day of competition that begins with preliminaries for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free at 10:30 a.m. local time. The finals for all three events, plus the 200 free relay, will commence at 6:00 p.m.

Two years ago, when the Sun Devils last participated in the conference championships, Nordin won her first title in the 500 free with a program-best time of 4:33.74.

Some 1,500 miles away from the Women's meet in Seattle, two Sun Devil Men's divers will begin competing at their respective Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships tomorrow afternoon, as well. The Men's 1m preliminaries will begin roughly at 11 a.m. MST, with finals for the event currently slated for 3:15.
