The Arizona State Sun Devil men's hoops team (19-10; 10-6) -- coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time since 1980-81 and the only Pac-12 team to make the NCAAs the past two seasons -- puts its 15-4 record after a loss the past two seasons to test with a home game vs. the Washington Huskies on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 with Dave Pasch and Bill Walton on the call. ASU will try and sweep the Huskies for the first time since 2016-17 and just the second time in the past 17 seasons.
QUICK STATS: Prior to its past two NCAA appearances under Bobby Hurley, ASU had made the NCAA Tournament three times in previous 22 seasons (1996-2017), but the Sun Devils are making a run at a third straight for the first time since the early 1960s as it has won nine of its past 12, with two of the losses (75-72 at UCLA Feb. 27 and 67-65 at WSU on Jan. 29) decided by three-pointers in the final seconds. ASU had its seven-game Pac-12 win streak -- an ASU first since the 1980-81 team won 11 straight -- ended in the 75-72 great tilt at UCLA. The Sun Devils are 15-4 (.789) in the past two seasons after a loss, including 6-3 this year.
PAC-12 REFRESHER: ASU has a chance to do what it did last year that it rarely had done prior...get to 12-6 and finish second. ASU finished second in the Pac-12 for just the fourth time in its 41-year Pac-10/12 history last year (2009-10, 1980-81 and 1979-80) and won at least 12 loop games for just the sixth time.
