SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the first time in program history, Sun Devil Lacrosse swept the Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week recognition and was joined by teammate Kerri Clayton, who took home the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. It is the fifth and sixth time a Sun Devil has won a Player of the Week award, with all of them coming over the past two seasons.

Three different Sun Devils have been named the Conference Player of the Week so far in 2020, already matching last season's total only four weeks into the season. Emily Glagolev was tabbed as the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week back on February 17th after a week in which she compiled three goals, seven assists, three ground balls, and two draw controls.

The contributions of Bonneau and Clayton were integral to the Sun Devils' 18-14 victory over Marquette on Thursday. The pair of upperclassmen made sure their team came out on the right side of the first game at home, leading ASU to a win in the home opener for the third consecutive season.

Berkeley Bonneau – Defensive Player of the Week

After finishing fifth in the country last season with 194 saves, Berkeley Bonneau continues to play at a high level in 2020. In the victory over Marquette, Bonneau made 12 saves earning her third win of the season. She reached the double-digit save mark for second consecutive game and 24th time in her career.

The quick reflexes and high I.Q. of Bonneau were on display all afternoon, as she made four free position saves. She came through when her team needed her the most, making seven second half saves, holding Marquette scoreless during separate seven and nine-minute stretches.

Taking into account the Golden Eagles' nine goals from the free-position and two while a man-up, Bonneau only allowed three goals when presented with even-strength action. Her all around game was on display yet again, as she collected five ground balls and came out of her net to cause a turnover on an interception.

Kerri Clayton – Offensive Player of the Week

Kerri Clayton has been making the most of her final season in Tempe, proving to be one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the nation. Clayton took home her second Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career, previously being recognized after racking up a school-record 12 points in the win over Oregon (4/8) last season.

She finished with five goals and two assists in the win over Marquette, her second consecutive game with at least seven points. Not only was it her fifth consecutive hat trick to start the season, she also recorded her third multi-assist performance in 2020. The improvement of her all-around game was on display against the Golden Eagles. Clayton finished with a career-high four draw controls, playing a huge role in the Sun Devils' second half advantage in the draw circle.

Clayton is thriving in the new offensive system, recording her sixth career games with five or more goals. She has played a major role as both a scorer and facilitator in the Sun Devil offense which leads the Pac-12 and is tied for fifth nationally in scoring (18.0 goals/game).

Kerri Clayton was once again the focal point of the offense, scoring three goals to become the first Sun Devil to surpass the 100-career goal mark. With the majority of the attention paid to her, Clayton did not hesitate to get her teammates involved, matching a career-high with four assists. She has been unstoppable so far this season, recording a hat trick in each of her first six games.

Over her last three games, Clayton has 14 goals and nine assists, playing some of the best lacrosse of her career. She now has seven career performances with seven or more points and already has four games with 2+ assists this season after finishing with only two in 2019. For the second consecutive game, Clayton matched a career-high with four draw controls.

Goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau looked sharp from the start, preventing the visitors from scoring until the 14-minute mark. She was active outside of her cage and off rebounds, collecting a team-high five ground balls. Bonneau made nine saves and allowed five goals to a Bulldog offense that came into the game averaging 16.5 goals/game. It was the sixth time she has gave up five goals or less in her career.

Bonneau has four wins through six games this season and has played 296 of a possible 360 minutes in net for the Sun Devils. Her 48 saves in 2020 puts her closer to the 400 mark for her career, currently sitting at 397. She leads the team with 25 ground balls, while her five caused turnovers are the third most.
