FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Sun Devil women's swimming and men's diving finished up their third night at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, highlighted by two podium finishes by Sun Devils. Emma Nordin took second place in the 200 free and Silja Kansakoski took second in the 100 breast.

"We continued our success on day three with some great swimming by Emma, who set the school record in the 200 free) and Silja," head swim coach Bob Bowman said. "Overall, we are swimming fast in the morning and improving at night. Our goal is to have our best day tomorrow and build momentum for our team at NCAAs."
 
The Sun Devils showed out in the preliminary round this morning, sending six to the A Finals, six to the B Finals and four to the C Finals spread throughout the five individual events.
 
The morning session began with the 400 IM, with Nora Deleske and Lizzy Spears making it through to the finals with their fifth and 15th place finishes, respectively.
 
Several freshmen turned heads in the 100 fly prelims, with Jade Foelske, Lindsay Looney and Katrina Marty all securing spots in the finals this evening. Sophomore Ruby Martin rounded out the Sun Devils in the event, showcasing the young talent on the squad.
 
In the 200 free, ASU alone made up one fourth of the field as eight women pushed through to the finals. Cierra Runge (third), Nordin (fifth), Erica Laning (seventh), Kendall Dawson (14th), Savannah Mitchell (21th) and Lilia Smith (24rd) all represented the maroon and gold this evening.
 
Kansakoski was the lone representative for the Sun Devils in the 100 breast, placing second in the prelims to earn a spot in the A Final. Chloe Isleta (eighth), Camryn Curry (11th) and Katrina Marty (23rd) stepped up to the block in the final event of the morning, all advancing in the 100 back.
 
Youssef Selim took the platform dive event after swimming concluded, placing first in the preliminary round to move onto the finals. He rounded out his final Pac-12 Championship in fourth place and now turns his attention toward the Zone E Championship to qualify for NCAAs.
 
Deleske and Spears went first in the evening session in the 400 IM, with Deleske ultimately placing seventh while Spears followed in 16th to score big points for ASU. Foelske (ninth), Looney (10th), Martin (15th) and Marty (24th) all followed in the 100 fly to add on to the Sun Devils' point total this evening.
 
Nordin stepped up to the block next, setting the Arizona State record in the 200 free to finish in second place. She followed this performance after a stellar swim last night to win her first ever Pac-12 Championhip in the 500 free. Runge (fifth), Laning (sixth), Dawson (13th), Mitchell (22nd) and Smith (24th) joined her in the 200 free finals tonight.
 
Kansakoski added another podium finish for ASU, placing second in the 100 breast. The 100 back rounded out the individual events, as Isleta (seventh), Curry (12th) and Marty (22nd) finished out the night for ASU.

In the final event of the evening, Isleta, Kansakoski, Foelske and Curry participated in the 200 medley relay for ASU. The women combined to place fifth in the event, touching the wall at 1:38.17 to round out day three.

With one night left, the ASU women sit in fifth place with a total of 635.5 points. They lead Arizona by over 100 points, with the women looking to maintain that lead to secure the Territorial Cup Series point tomorrow evening by placing higher than the Wildcats.
