IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 5 Arizona State women's water polo team took sixth place at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational after falling to No. 6 UC Irvine, 12-7, Sunday morning at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.

ASU kept it close through most of the game but fell behind, 8-4, entering the fourth quarter. A late offensive surge was not enough to hold the Anteaters off as ASU was outscored 4-3 in the final period.

The Sun Devils were led in scoring in the contest by Amira Van Buren and Borbala Kekesi with two goals each. Eszter Kiss assisted on five of the Sun Devils' seven goals, which tied for the second-most assists in a single game in ASU program history.

Goalkeeper Itzahiana Baca recorded 11 saves. Baca has reached 10+ saves in six games so far this season.

The Sun Devils have next weekend off before heading to the Bay Area to face MPSF foes San Jose State (Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. MST) and Stanford (Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m. MST). The game at Stanford will be broadcast on Pac-12 Netoworks, and fans can follow along during all of ASU's games by following @SunDevilWP on Twitter.
