IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 5 Arizona State women's water polo team (10-2) opened the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with an 8-6 win over the No. 13 San Jose State Spartans (4-8). 

After falling behind 2-0 early in the first quarter, Borbala Kekesi scored two goals in less than two minutes to tie the game up heading into the second quarter.

The Sun Devils went into the second half trailing the Spartans 4-3, but scored three-straight in the third quarter, including Kekesi's third of the game, to give the team a lead with eight minutes to play. Meghan Beaudet and Amira Van Buren both netted their second goals of the game in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Sun Devils.

Next Up

The Sun Devils will continue play in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational tomorrow, playing No. 3 Hawai'i (10-0) at 10:15 a.m. MST. ASU played Hawai'i earlier this month in the Cross Conference Challenge and came up just short in a 9-7 loss, giving the Wahine their smallest margin of victory all season.
