TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 10 Arizona State women's water polo team (3-0) opened the Cross-Conference Challenge with a 12-6 win over the No. 25 Azusa Pacific Cougars (1-4) Friday morning at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex.
After falling behind 3-1 in the first half, Amira Van Buren, Borbala Kekesi and Alison Cameron each scored in the span of less than two minutes to take the 4-3 lead.
Things were tied at 5-0 before the Sun Devils scored seven goals unanswered putting the game away. In total, six different players scored for ASU.
Van Buren led the Devils in goals scored with four and Kekesi put in three of her own. Kekesi has scored at least three goals in each of ASU's first three games this season. Blaire McDowell contributed heavily on the defensive end, contributing three steals in the game.
