ANOTHER FINALS APPEARANCE:
The Arizona State University men's golf team -- ranked fifth in the final rankings by Golfweek and seventh by Golfstat -- finished its 2018-19 season with four team wins, a first-team All-American, a Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and the Coach of the Year, four others earning Pac-12 honors, six individual wins and all five regulars in the lineup earning PING All-West Region honors.

FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: Sun Devil junior Chun An Yu, who posted eight top-five finishes in 11 events in 2018-19 including a win at the Thunderbird Collegiate and a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, earned PING First-Team All-America honors as announced by the GCAA. The 10 first-team selections includes five seniors, as Yu, ranked in the top-10 of the World Golf Amateur rankings, will be one of the top returning collegiate players in 2019-20. He closed a great junior season with a third-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships held at Blessings Golf Club (7,550 yards/par-72) in Fayetteville May 24-27. He finished at 3-under 285 (69-74-70-72), as only five players shot below par for the tournament and the third-place finish matched the second-best Sun Devil finish at the NCAA Championships in the past 16 years

ALL-PAC-12 HONORS: @SunDevilMGolf had people all over the place for All-Pac-12 honors. Matt Thurmond earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year while Cameron Sisk earned Freshman of the Year. Chun An Yu and Mason Andersen earned first-team honors, while Blake Wagoner and Alex del Rey earned notched second-team. Wagoner earned first-team All-Academic honors for the second straight year, while del Rey and Andersen earned academic honorable mention.

QUIETLY HAD A GOOD SEASON: Lost in the chatter about six individual winners and three straight team titles was the solid season freshman Cameron Sisk had, as his 71.20 stroke average was the best by any Sun Devil freshman, with some pretty good golfers on the list dating to 1985. He earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

SUN DEVIL FRESHMAN SCORING AVERAGES (1985-2019)
Cameron Sisk, 13, 2018-19, 71.20

CRAZY STAT: Counting individual tournaments six Sun Devils earned or shared medalist honors in 2018-19. Jino Sohn and James Leow tied for first at the 37-player 2019 Arizona Intercollegiate individual tournament (Jan. 28-29). Alex del Rey won the 84-player National Invitational March 18-19, while freshman Cameron Sisk earned the Sonoran Showdown 20-player event, with both events taking place in Tucson at same time. Sophomore Mason Andersen won a playoff to claim the 91-player field at San Diego's Lamkin Grips Classic on March 11-12, and then Chun An Yu put his name in the 2019 winner's column April 12-13 at ASU's Thunderbird Collegiate.

DON'T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED: Thirty teams earned the right to go to Arkansas, but it isn't easy in the stressful regional world. Golfstat top-30 teams that didn't go to Arkansas were Texas Tech (15), NC State (24), Alabama (28) and UCLA (29). Golfweek's highest three ranked teams missing the trip were Texas Tech (18), Florida State (25) and UCLA (26).
