PHOENIX – No. 16 Arizona State women's golf capped their own PING/ASU Invitational Sunday, the first at Papago Golf Course, the new home of Sun Devil golf. The Sun Devils held steady all weekend, in the top spot near the end, ultimately finishing second, just one stroke behind No. 1 USC.

Individually, junior Olivia Mehaffey skyrocketed up the leaderboard on Saturday and earned her fourth top-10 finish of the season, finishing sixth overall (211/-5).

"Today was a heartbreaking loss by one shot to No. 1-ranked USC," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "My hope is that we learn from this loss how important it is to fight to the finish. This team has come a long way this semester and I believe we have great things ahead of us still to come. We will regroup and start preparing for Pac-12 Championships in two weeks."

Freshman Alessandra Fanali earned the second-highest finish of her young college career (T13) while Raquel Olmos (T20) also finished in the top-25.

This weekend was the final home competition for seniors Madison Kerley and Sofia Anokhina, who were honored Thursday night prior to the start of the tournament with seniors from each participating school.

Arizona State now sets their sights on the 2019 Pac-12 Championships Apr. 15-17 in Palos Verdes, Calif. NCAA Regionals take place May 6-8 while the nation's top teams will advance to NCAA Championships May 17-22.
