No. 21 @SunDevilGym Takes Third in Denver Quad MeetNo. 21 @SunDevilGym Takes Third in Denver Quad Meet
DENVER – Finishing the meet with a strong performance on bars, No. 21 Arizona State gymnastics earned a team score of 194.825 to take third behind No. 6 Denver and No. 18 Nebraska while beating Pittsburgh at a quad meet in Magness Arena on Sunday afternoon.

"It was a little up and down today," Arizona State head coach Jay Santos said. "Obviously, it's not ideal when we have to count a fall. We've been extremely consistent this season, so that is certainly disappointing and not a formula for success. We were definitely flat in certain spots, but there were also some highlights. The back half of floor and vault were pretty strong and we finished the meet really well on bars with some nice routines."

ASU (9-10) finished behind No. 6 Denver and No. 18 Nebraska while surpassing Pittsburgh. Despite the season-low team score, the Gym Devils scored a 49.100 on bars, extending the streak of meets scoring 49.000 or better in that event to eight.

The highest individual score was a 9.850, which was reached in three different routines. Corinne Belkoff and Kaitlyn Szafranski reached that mark on floor while Morgan Hart got it on bars. Justine Callis earned a 9.825 on bars, a new career high for the senior. In the all-around, Cairo Leonard-Baker scored a 39.050.

Rotation Two – Floor | 48.775

The Sun Devils saved the best for last. On bars, five scored a 9.800 or better. Hart led the way with a 9.850, followed by Callis' and Leonard-Baker's 9.825s. For Callis, that score is a career high. As a team, ASU has scored a 49.000 or better on bars in eight-straight meets.

The Gym Devils have a quick turnaround this week. Arizona State will host top-25 teams West Virginia and BYU this Wednesday in Wells Fargo Arena.

"We've got a quick turnaround with our next meet in three days," Santos said, "We will need to put this behind us, try to clean up a few things and work to come out strong and aggressive on Wednesday."
