TEMPE, Ariz. – Beam routines shone for No. 20 Arizona State gymnastics in the annual Maroon and Gold intrasquad meet on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena.

"I'm pretty pleased overall," Arizona State head coach Jay Santos said. "These preseason events usually go one of two ways: either the team comes out and does well and shows how prepared we are, or it shows we need work. I actually think we got a little of both. Beam obviously looked really strong and ready to go. Other events had a little bit of up and down. But we hit a lot of routines and only had one or two true falls. All in all, I'm really pleased with what I saw and it's going to show us where we need to work going into the first meet."

In the meet, both teams only counted four scores in each rotation. The Maroon team took first place in the meet with a score of 155.700 while the Gold squad earned a 155.075. Both teams' best events were on beam with Maroon scoring a 39.275 and Gold getting a 39.150.

Six Gym Devils competed in every event, but Anne Kuhm came out on top with a 39.175 in the all-around. She had the best vault score of the day with a 9.850. The top scores came on beam and bars when Justine Callis scored a 9.875 on beam and Cairo Leonard-Baker got the same score on bars.
