PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Sun Devil baseball team (11-9) picked up their first sweep of the season after a 6-1 victory over the Oregon Ducks (12-7) on Sunday afternoon at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
Eli Lingos registered his third quality start of the season, going 7.2 innings and allowing only one run on five hits while picking off two runners and striking out four. The 7.2 innings pitched tied both the longest start in Lingos' career and the longest from a Sun Devil this season.
After last night's offensive splurge, Arizona State came back today with 13 hits. Five different Sun Devils recorded multiple hits, including a 3-for-5 performance from Lyle Lin.
ASU got started right away with Gage Canning hitting a single to center field for his eighth consecutive hit in eight at-bats, tying the third longest streak in Sun Devil history. Arizona State has scored in the first inning for the past two games and continued the streak after Carter Aldrete drove in Canning for a run with a single up the middle.
With runners at first and second in the third inning, Aldrete hit a single to left field to score one run and give Aldrete his second RBI on his second hit. Next batter, Taylor Lane, hit an RBI single to center field to put the Sun Devils up 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Oregon scored a run off of two hits to make it 3-1 in ASU's favor. In the next at-bat, Lingos picked off a runner at first to retire the Ducks and prevent any more runs for Oregon. The Sun Devils responded right back in the bottom of the fourth with a run of their own.
Arizona State put up two more runs in the fifth, as two freshman added some crucial insurance. Gage Workman would deliver a RBI double followed by an Alika Williams RBI single, pushing the Sun Devil lead to 5-1.
Right-handed reliever Zane Strand and left-handed reliever Connor Higgins combined to go the final 1.1 innings in relief of Lingos, keeping the Ducks off the scoreboard and giving Arizona State the 6-1 victory and the series sweep.
Next up, the Sun Devils will host UNLV in a mid-week matchup schedule for Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. AZT at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Follow the action live by viewing the Pac-12 Digital Stream.

Notes:
- This represents the first time that Arizona State has started Pac-12 play 3-0 since the 2009-10 season in which they swept California (3/26-3/28). That team finished the season 19-7 in conference play and 52-10 overall.
- Coming into the weekend, recently named Collegiate Baseball & Pac-12 Player/Pitcher of the Week Parker Kelly had gone 14 innings without allowing a run all season out of the bullpen for the Ducks. In 3.1 innings pitched this weekend, the Sun Devils tagged Kelly for four runs and racked up six hits.
- ASU is now 8-2 in weekend series, including three sweeps, against the Ducks since they re-established their program in 2008.
- Arizona State earns their 10th weekend sweep under Head Coach Tracy Smith, with the last three-game sweep over a Pac-12 opponent coming last season against Washington State (April 13-15).
- The was the first time that Oregon had been swept in a conference road series since April 21-23, 2016 against UCLA.
