The @ASUMensGolf team finished third at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif., on Tuesday, behind only host California and Santa Clara. The Sun Devils came into the final 18 holes in fourth place, but were able to jump ahead of San Diego State to finish in third.
The Sun Devils were led by freshman Paul Chaplet, who posted his first top-10 collegiate finish with a 10-under 203. Chaplet had 16 birdies and an eagle in the 54-hole tournament.
Next for ASU was Chun An Yu (T-14) including a season best 66 in round one. Alex del Rey (T-19) notched his third straight top-20 finish, while Mason Andersen (T-41) and Blake Wagoner (52) rounded out the Sun Devil finishes.
Arizona State played the par-4 scores in 3-under, which was second-best in the tournament in the 16-team field, but California played them in 15-under. ASU had 66 birdies, third-best behind only California (72) and Santa Clara (68).
