SEATTLE – Jeremy McCuin had a career day at the plate and Ryan Hingst was solid in relief as Sun Devil Baseball took down Washington, 8-5, on Saturday in Seattle.

McCuin finished the day 3-of-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI to help pace an ASU offense in which every player recorded a hit. The sophomore record the second three-hit game of his season, matching his career high.

Andrew Snow, Hunter Bishop and Carter Aldrete each had two hits in the effort with Snow and Bishop logging two RBIs while Aldrete had his first career triple and also scored two runs.

Hingst pitched 5.1 innings of relief in the contest, striking out three and allowing just two runs on five hits to help the Sun Devils (22-25, 8-15 Pac-12) fend off several Husky rallies. Connor Higgins earned his first career start and overcome a tough opening frame to go 3.2 innings with three runs allowed and three strikeouts.

The Huskies loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with no outs but Higgins was able to escape the jam with minimal damage and just one run against.

The Sun Devil defense helped the southpaw out as well with Gage Canning gunning down a runner at home from center in the second before Connor helped issue a 1-5-4 caught stealing in the third to keep the Huskies within reach.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Sun Devils came storming back on the heels of Bishop's two-run triple to right center to tie the game up at 2-2. Zach Cerbo followed that up with a single to bring home Bishop and the first ASU lead of the series.

After Washington added one more to its tally in the bottom of the fourth to even things at 3-3, ASU promptly responded with a Snow RBI single to bring McCuin across to retake a 4-3 advantage.

UW again tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, the third tie of the game, sending things into final third of the game all square at 4-4.  That third tie led immediately to the third lead change of the contest as McCuin doubled to bring Carter Aldrete across to reclaim a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh – an advantage the squad wouldn't give up.

A couple batters later, Snow brought McCuin home for the second time on the day on a sac fly to right for a 6-4 advantage.

Washington added another run in the bottom of the frame but the Devils responded with some insurance in the top of the eighth as Aldrete knocked his first career triple - a two-out, 0-2 offering to bring home Taylor Lane before scoring on a Myles Denson single to increase the Sun Devil lead to 8-5.

Hingst did the rest from there, retiring six of the final seven batters he faced to earn his second win of the season.
