Junior (2019) 

  • Hunter Bishop was named Perfect Game and D1Baseball’s Midseason Player of the Year during the first week of April and was also tabbed as the NCBWA National Player of the Month for the Month of March. He was tabbed as a Pac-12 All-Conference First Team selection this week. 
  • Bishop has also been named the 2019 Midseason Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist.
  • Sophomore Hunter Bishop sits fifth nationally in home runs (22). He is five homers shy of ASU’s single season record for home runs (27 by Mitch Jones in 2000).
  • The junior is ranked in the top-30 nationally in numerous offensive categories, including homers, slugging (7th/.765), runs (28th/64), RBIs (38th/61) and total bases (6th/163). 
  • He has reached base in all but three games this season and had a 44-game reach base streak at one point after reaching in the first 39 games of this season and last five. of 2018. 
  • Bishop is ranked in the Pac-12 top-10 in every major offensive category and is Top-Five in average, slugging, on-base percentage, runs, RBIs, hits, homers, triples, total bases and walks. . 
  • Bishop has 21 multi-hit games this season and leads the team with three games with four or more hits. His 17 multi-RBI games are more than any other player on ASU’s prolific roster and he has 10 games with three or more RBIs.  
  • The 61 current RBIs are easily the most for a Sun Devil in the BBCOR era of batting, surpassing the previous best of 53 by Torkelson (2018) and Abe Ruiz (2011). 
  • Bishop leads the team in advancing teammates 71 times on 131 chances (.542).

Sophomore (2018):

  • Played in 49 games, starting 36 of them.
  • Pac-12 Academic All-Conference Selection.
  • Matched his total from last season, launching five home runs
  • Finished with a career-best 26 RBIs, including six multi-RBI performances
  • Drove in 3+ runs on four different occasions
  • The main offensive catalyst in one of the Sun Devil's biggest wins of the season, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a season-best five RBIs in a 10-5 win over rival Arizona (5/18)
  • Went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs in the final game of the series against Arizona (5/19)
  • Put together a terrific performance in the Sun Devil's 9-4 victory over UNC Wilmington (3/9), going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and stolen base
  • Found his groove at the plate, hitting .284 over his last 37 games
  • Improved his field percentage almost 30 points after working diligently to solidify his defense
  • Drew 18 walks, boasting a .353 OBP

Freshman (2017):

  • Finished his freshman campaign batting .301 (second on the team), knocking five doubles, four triples (second on the team) and five home runs (tied for second on the team)
  • Named an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection
  • Made his first collegiate start against Northwestern, playing in right field and earning a walk (2/17)
  • Recorded his first career hit and multi-hit game in the matchup against Oklahoma State, going 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a run (2/21)
  • Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs against UNLV, adding a two-run home run in the loss (4/18)
  • Played an instrumental role in the Devils' 14-13 midweek victory over Arizona, knocking three hits with two RBIs and three runs scored against the Wildcats (5/9)
High School:
  • Selected in the 24th round (714th overall) of the 2016 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres
  • Attended Serra High School in California where he played both football and baseball
  • Key member of two state championship teams, the 2015 WCAL Football Champions and the 2016 WCAL Baseball Champions.
  • 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American

His brother, Braden, was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Mariners after playing from 2013-15 for the University of Washington. Majoring in Sports and Media Studies at ASU.
