AMES, Iowa/ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After a historical Friday at both the Iowa State Classic and Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Saturday saw several move up the ASU all-time list.

Following an outstanding performance in the weight throw on Friday that saw her move into the top-three, redshirt junior Maggie Ewen is now nipping at the heels of former National Champion Sarah Stevens with the top throw all-time. Ewen heaved a whopping 18.12m (59-05.50), which is just 1.5 inches from the best throw in ASU history.

"Maggie had a great weekend," said throws coach Brian Blutreich. "Two personal bests does not always come easy, and she is starting to feel more comfortable with what she is trying to do in the ring. As we move forward, we are going to work towards more consistency and give her as much confidence as possible leading into the postseason."

Not only that, but the throw was also two feet further than her previous all-time best, which she hit earlier this season at the NAU Friday Night Duel. She finished first out of 38 competitors.

Her counterpart on the men's side, senior Tom Anderson, also had quite a performance with a third-place finish overall out of 23 student-athletes. While his throw of 18.34m (60-02.00) wasn't a personal best, it was the best throw so far this season. Anderson's teammate, senior Kyle Long, bounced back with another great performance in the shot put as well. He threw a new seasonal best at 17.37m (57-0.00), which comes a day after moving into the top-three all-time in the weight throw.

In the women's triple jump, junior Darreyl Woodson climbed into the top-three all-time with a leap of 12.47m (40-11.00), which was also good enough for a five-inch personal best.

On the track, three Sun Devils were competing in semi-final events with a chance to qualify for the finals.

Junior Drelan Bramwell placed seventh in the 60-meter dash semi-final with a time of 6.79 – tying his fastest of the season -- then followed with an eighth-place performance at 6.80.

Fellow junior transfer Shaunie Morrison clocked a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdle semi-finals at 8.45, but just missed qualifying for the final by .02 seconds.

Her time moved her into the top-10 all time at 8th and the fastest time in the event by a Devil since 2014.

Sophomore Jeremy Wright hit a new mark in just his second 400-meter event this season, as he finished 8th out of 59 runners and won his section at 48.29.

In Ames, freshman Michael Coccia had a coming out party in just his third track and field meet. His time of 4:09.12 in the 1-mile event was good enough to win his heat and place 9th overall out of 49 men. It was also a four-second personal best.

After further research, Garrett Starkey's vault of 5.30m (17-04.50) on Friday also moved him into the ASU all-time pole vault list at No. 4. It was the best clearance by a Devil since Derick Hinch in 2013.

ASU will have one more week to prepare for the MPSF Indoor Conference Championship, as they compete in the NAU Tune-Up in Flagstaff and/or the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
