MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Robbi Ryan scored a team-high 13 points and tied for the team lead with four assists to help lead the No. 23 Arizona State women's basketball team to a 69-48 win over Middle Tennessee on Tuesday.
The Sun Devils (7-2) shot 56 percent, including 60 percent (6-10) from long distance to win their fifth straight game.
All 11 of ASU's active players not only scored, but also played 13 or more minutes. Sabrina Haines, who played a team-high 29 minutes, scored six points, tied Ryan for the team lead with four assists and also notched two steals and two rebounds.
ASU doubled up the Blue Raiders in rebounding (32-16), including an 11-6 advantage on the offensive end, which led to 11 second-chance points. Sophie Brunner led ASU with nine rebounds while Kianna Ibis had five.
Middle Tennessee (2-5) was led by Alex Johnson, who scored 21 points.
Ibis scored seven points in the first quarter as ASU jumped out to a 16-2 lead over the Blue Raiders. Johnson scored four of Middle Tennessee's six first-quarter points in the final 34 seconds of the frame as the Sun Devils led 21-6 after the first 10 minutes.
After shooting 69 percent in the first quarter, the Sun Devils continued their hot shooting in the second quarter as they knocked down 67 percent of their shots. Kelsey Moos, Jamie Ruden and Richardson each knocked down a 3-pointer in the quarter as the Sun Devils built their lead up to 25 in the final minute of the half.
Richardson scored all eight of her points in the first half to lead the Sun Devils, who connected on 68 percent of their shots over the first 20 minutes while forcing 12 turnovers.
Middle Tennessee never got closer than 19 points in the second half as the Sun Devils would lead by as many as 28 after a layup by Ibis with 3:55 remaining in the game.
The Sun Devils return to action on Saturday (2 p.m. MT) when they host Oral Roberts at Wells Fargo Arena. Saturday's game will be the program's annual Native American Game.
