TEMPE, Ariz.—The ASU volleyball team and Director of Volleyball Stevie Mussie welcome fans and season ticket holders to the annual Maroon & Gold Scrimmage to kick off the 2016 volleyball season.
The scrimmage is slated for Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. PT at Wells Fargo Arena. Admission is free.
"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to introduce myself, my staff, and the 2016 team to such a passionate group of volleyball fans," Mussie said. "We know we're not going to be playing at home for the first month of our season, so we really want everyone to come out on Saturday and see what we're taking out on the road this year, and season ticket holders will have a chance to join us for a Q&A session after the scrimmage."
Sun Devil volleyball will open the 2016 competition slate on Aug. 26-27 at the UNM Tournament in Albuquerque, N.M. There, ASU will take on Fairfied, the host Lobos, and Abilene Christian.
The Sun Devils will return to Wells Fargo Arena for the home opener on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. PT against Pac-12 foe Oregon.
Seniors Bree Bailey and Cassidy Pickrell, junior Halle Harker, and sophomores Jasmine Koonts, Lexi MacLean, and Kylie Pickrell are back for the 2016 campaign, along with the additions of transfers Maya McClendon (senior, Louisville), Oluoma Okaro (junior, University of San Francisco),Caroline Pearson (sophomore, Denver) and sophomore Carmen Unzue (sophomore, American University).
