LONG BEACH, Calif. – Arizona State swimming continued to improve through the second day of the Arena Invitational on Friday, putting up multiple top-ten finishes in both the men’s and women’s events. Through 24 events so far, the women come in at third place with 619 points and the men at eighth with 327. On the diving end, the squad opened up the Arizona Diving Invite in Tucson, Ariz., which saw nearly 70 competitors from 13 schools.

Highlights of the afternoon in Long Beach include a second-place finish from Alex Coci in the 100 fly for the men, who swam for a time of 47.66. Coci also swam a leg of the 200 medley relay with Deniz Hekmati, Zac Dalby and Herbie Behm, where they finished fifth (1:30.39).

The second day also saw three first-place finishes for the women: Caroline Kuczynski in the 100 fly (53.37), Shannon Landgrebe in the 200 free (1:45.81), and the team of Landgrebe, Cassie Morrice, Kuczynski and Tristin Baxter in the 800 free relay (7:10.79).

In Tucson, the Devils dominated up the competition in the women’s 3-meter championship, with freshman Morgan Weller and junior Hailey Casper finishing first and third in the finals. Weller notched 313.90 points to finish first and Casper had 301.15 points, sandwiching Megan Harper from New Mexico in second place.
