FULLERTON, Calif. – A sparkly new ASU softball team hit the diamond Friday morning as they opened up Day Two of the Judi Garmen Classic with an 8-2 win over the DePaul Blue Demons. Hillary Bach took the win as home runs from Caylyn Carlson and Annie Lockwood powered ASU to it’s now 25-4 record.

Hillary Bach took the ball for ASU against the Blue Demons as the clash of the underworld began with ASU taking the lead first off a sac fly from Annie Lockwood to bring home Katelyn Boyd for a 1-0 lead. DePaul fired back in the second though after a hit batter was followed with a triple and a single to bring in two and push the Blue Demons ahead 2-1.

ASU wasn’t quiet for long as nine-spot hitter Caylyn Carlson, coming off a quiet day yesterday, stopped playing possum as she dug in on a 1-2 pitchers count to crush a ball way past the left field fence and tie it at two apiece.

The Sun Devils proved that they were in it to win it though as they added two more runs in the third inning with a two-run shot to left center for her eighth home run of the season to give ASU the 4-2 advantage.

That wasn’t all ASU had left in the tank on offense though as they came out again in the fifth inning to add four more runs on four hits to post a daunting 8-2 lead over the Blue Demons with Hillary Bach looking nasty in the pitching circle after that shaky second inning; shutting down DePaul for the rest of the duration.
