The Arizona State swimming team began their season with the annual Maroon vs. Gold Intrasquad. The coaching staff opted to format this year's intrasquad in line with the Australian SKINS competition. The combined men and women's Maroon team handily defeated the Gold team 840.5-799.4. In the women's competition, Gold defeated their Maroon opponents, 389.2-386.7. The men's Maroon team wasted no time beating their Gold opponent with a solid 410.2-453.8 victory.

The intrasquad consisted of 21 total events, in a blend of individual, relay and combined team (men and women). Jesper Akesson showed promise in the 50 free as he took first while Xavier Mohammed and Caleb Veazey racked up several points for their teams in the Variable Distance Challenge. James Rigg took first for his team in the Point-Score 50's Fly while Jesper Akesson and Julius Schmidt put together several points in the Point-Score 50's Breast. In the 100 Mystery Medley, Nolan Ruane came up with some big points for the Maroon team, as did Xavier Mohammed on the 200 Broken IM. Senior Max Laney scored 22 points for his team in the Point-Score 50's Back while newcomer Stephen Estes totaled 24 points in the Point Score 50's Free.

On the women's side, Jess Perazzo turned in the fastest 50 free time. Freshman Cassie Morrice scored the most points in the Variable Distance Challenge with 20.4. NCAA individual qualifier Ashton Aubry swept the Point-Score 50's Fly, taking first in each heat while Rebecca Edjervik and Jordyn Green went back and forth in the Point Score 50's Breast. Senior Ashley Evans took control of the Mystery Medley, placing first in the event while Paige Schultz took two first places in the Broken IM, scoring 20 points total for her team. In the Point Score 50's Back, senior Jamie Martinez was the top point earner with 22 as freshman Paige Schultz accomplished the same in the Point Score 50's Free.

The Sun Devils will next compete in their annual Alumni Meet on October 24. Several alumni events will take place that weekend.
