TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 17th-ranked Arizona State women's soccer team (7-0) posted their third straight shutout and fifth of the year tonight as they blanked Sacramento State (4-2-2), 2-0.
Sacramento State made a concerted effort throughout the game to pack it in on the defensive side. Arizona State outshot the Hornets 24-3, while posting 10 corner kicks to Sacramento State's one. The Hornets did not attempt a shot in the first half with all three of their shots coming in the second half.
Arizona State posted their first goal in the 38th minute. Freshman Patrice Feulner accepted the corner kick and lobbed the ball in the middle of the box to junior Stacey Tullock, who then kicked it in from two yards out. Tullock now has four game-winning goals this year.
Senior Shanel Scott sealed the win with her first goal of the season in the 43rd minute. After receiving a pass from senior Jaclyn Clark, Scott kicked the ball with the side of her leg putting into the net pass the Hornet's goalkeeper.
ASU goalkeeper Erin Reinke went the 90 minutes again, posting the complete shutout with two saves. Sacramento State split goalkeepers with Amy Seely going the first half, while Tiffany Genovese went the second half. Each goalkeeper recorded six saves.
