Carrick Felix And Trent Lockett Join List Of Sun Devil Men's Basketball Graduates

May 10, 2012

Carrick Felix (B.S., Communication) and Trent Lockett (B.A., Business Communication) have joined the list of Sun Devils men's basketball graduates under Coach Sendek.

Carrick was accepted into the Masters of Liberal Studies program at Arizona State and will be starting his masters classes in the summer of 2012.

At the end of the athletic season at the Sun Devil student-athlete graduation luncheon, each Sun Devil head coach offers a quote to be read prior to the student-athlete speaking. Here is what Coach Sendek had to say about Carrick on May 4:

"We are proud and delighted to celebrate Carrick Felix's undergraduate graduation with a B.S. in Communications. At the same time, we are excited as he begins to pursue his master's degree in Liberal Studies. Carrick continues to be a shining star and a good will ambassador for our basketball program and our university. He is an unselfish, caring teammate and a serving compassionate participant in our community. Carrick's charisma, gentle heart, and easy smile make him everybody's friend. Carrick understands and appreciates the value of higher education. His academic determination and perseverance position him to inspire others who may follow in his footsteps, and to be a leader in our community. Coaching Carrick is a great honor, and I look forward with joy to our next season together. And we thank Carrick's mom, Beverly, for entrusting her son with us."

Carrick has been selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA National Career in Sports Forum (CSF) which will take place June 7-10, 2012 at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott. As a participant, the CSF will provide him with an educational opportunity where selected student-athletes will learn and gain valuable exposure to careers in sports, specifically in the areas of coaching, administration, and sports entertainment. Additionally, the forum will dispel myths about careers in athletics, as well as, facilitate the opportunity to obtain information from current and future athletics professionals.

Here is what Coach Sendek had to say about Trent:

"We are glad to join in on the celebration of Trent Lockett's graduation with a B.A. in Business Communication. Ambitiously, Trent is earning this degree in three years and now plans to pursue a master's degree. Trent is a thinker. He is bright, analytical and a wizard with numbers. I always enjoyed our engaging, and thoughtful conversations. Trent has been an outstanding representative for our program on campus and in the community. Trent personified the concept of student-athlete. As a gentleman, he has been easy to cheer for. Clearly, the Sun Devil Nation has been very proud of Trent. We certainly wish Trent the very best, and we thank his mom Judy, for entrusting us with her son. As Denzel Washington so famously said in the movie, American Gangster, "My Man".
