Sun Devil Hoops 20 Consecutive OOC Regular Season Wins

When ASU beat Central Arkansas on Dec. 22, 2016, prior to the holiday break, it was the start of a 20-game non-conference regular season win streak, the sixth-best mark in the Pac-12 in 23 seasons. Along the way ASU beat two eventual No. 1 seeds (Xavier and Kansas), beat four 2018 NCAA Tournament teams (Kansas State and San Diego State in addition to Xavier and Kansas), won two Las Vegas tournament titles and averaged over 90 points a game.

ASU 83, Texas Southern 71 (Dec. 1, 2018)
Texas Southern went the distance as ASU led for 39:02 but could never put TSU away until the final four minutes. Zylan Cheatham posted the second triple double in school history with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. ASU placed five players in double digits as Romello White led the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds on 9-of-10 shooting. Luguentz Dort had 18 points, Taeshon Cherry 14 and Kimani Lawrence 13. ASU never trailed, but TSU cut it to 63-57 with under 10 minutes remaining and to 69-61 with 6:35 left but ASU went on a 7-0 run to put it away.

ASU 89, Nebraska Omaha 71 (Nov. 28, 2018)
Omaha led 25-17 with under 10 minutes remaining in the first half but ASU closed the half on a 33-15 run and then hit three three-pointers in the first three minutes to put the Mavericks away. Luguentz Dort and Taeshon Cherry each had 19 while Kimani Lawrence added 18, including four three-pointers. Zylan Cheatham posted 13 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists as ASU shot .516 (.33-of-64) from the floor and outrebounded Omaha 41-27. ASU posted nine steals.

ASU 87, Utah St 82 (Nov. 21, 2018) (MGM Resorts Main Event)
ASU held off Utah State behind Tournament MVP Luguentz Dort's 33 points. Freshman Taeshon Cherry added 15 points off the bench, while Remy Martin added 13 and Kimani Lawrence 10. Zylan Cheatham added a career-best six assists. ASU put 50 on USU in the second half, forced 20 turnovers and was 7-of-14 from the three-point stripe to move to 5-0 for just the third time in 33 seasons. Utah State (5-1) took a 47-44 lead with 15:53 left, but ASU went on a 10-3 run.

ASU 72, #15 Mississippi St 67 (Nov. 19, 2018) (MGM Resorts)
ASU got after it early as it led by 15 at the half behind 27-12 advantage on the boards and held MSU to just 10-of-33 from the floor, but MSU -- who won 25 games in 2017-18 -- fought back to tie it with 1:01 left. Kimani Lawrence (career-high 22 points and 9-of-14 shooting) buried a three with 29 seconds left and shot clock winding down, ASU got a stop and Remy Martin hit two free throws to seal it. ASU got 16 points from Martin (6-7 FTs, seven assists and no turnovers in 35 minutes), 12 points and nine boards from Zylan Cheatham and 17 points and nine boards from Luguentz Dort.

ASU 90, Long Beach State 58 (Nov. 12, 2018)
ASU took control early and in a game that had one tie and one lead change as six Sun Devils scored in double digits. ASU led 38-16 at the half and collected 63 rebounds, most in since it had 63 vs. Utah on Nov. 27, 2002. It held LBSU to just .274 from the field, ASU's best defensive effort since Feb. 11, 2010, when it help Oregon State to 14-of-47 (.246). Remy Martin had 15 points while Luguentz Dort had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

ASU 80, McNeese State 52 (Nov. 9, 2018)
McNeese State jumped out to an 8-3 lead but Luguentz Dort (25 points), Zylan Cheatham (16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists) and Kimani Lawrence (16 points and six rebounds) led ASU as the Sun Devils outscored the Cowboys 47-29 in the second half. ASU held McNeese State to .319 from the field (15-of-47) and the 52 points allowed is the fewest in the Coach Hurley era at Arizona State.

ASU 102, Cal State Fullerton 94 (Nov. 6, 2018)
ASU topped topped 2018 Big West Champion Cal State Fullerton – and its four returning starters – 102-94 in double overtime in a Nov. 6 opener that was as good as it looks on the box score. ASU’s 102 points was the most in an opener since it scored 111 vs. Jacksonville in 1996, as it placed five in double figures. Luguentz Dort’s 28 points is the most by a Sun Devil freshman in a debut, and the most by any Sun Devil in an opener since Jeremy Veal had 32 on Nov. 16, 1997. ASU had 20 offensive rebounds and placed all five starters in double digits.

ASU 104, Pacific 65 (Dec. 22, 2017)
ASU went on to win their twelfth straight game in front of 10,646 fans. Tra Holder put three on the board setting the tone for the Sun Devils, while winning a jump ball, followed by a score that places him in third in Sun Devil career points (1,470 points scored). Romello White grabbed four rebounds in the first six minutes.

ASU 95, Longwood 61 (Dec. 19, 2017)
ASU continued its best start in program history (11-0) and moved to No. 3. The Sun Devils gave up the lead twice, but Tra Holder and Mickey Mitchell changed the game going into the half. Holder had 10 points going into the break, while Mitchell hammered in a dunk and had two steals with a charge within three minutes. Coming into the second half, Kodi Justice had a three pointer, which was followed up b Romello White’s bucket that created the largest lead of the game for the Sun Devils.

ASU 76, Vanderbilt 64 (Dec. 17, 2017)
In front of 10,000 fans, No. 5 ASU secured their best start in program history. ASU’s defense saved the Sun Devils after starting slow offensively allowing six points in 10 minutes. Ohio State transfer Mickey Mitchell had a steal and score making it his first score at ASU.

ASU 95, @#2 Kansas 85 (Dec. 10, 2017)
Down 15-2 in Lawrence, Kan. the Sun Devils used the media timeout to their advantage. Following the timeout, the Sun Devils went on a 15-0 run in the second half to upset No. 2 Kansas (7-2). The win makes ASU one of seven undefeated the teams in the nation.

ASU 82, St. John's 70 (Dec. 8, 2017) (STAPLES Center)
No. 16 ranked Sun Devils went on a 11-0 run to beat St. John’s at the STAPLES Center. Led by Romello White’s 22 points and nine rebounds, ASU led by 18 in the first half. ASU was able to stop three straight and make all six free throws. Shannon Evans helped to close out the game with 18 points, giving ASU their best start to the Sun Devils since 1974-75 team started off 9-0.

ASU  75, USF 57 (Dec. 2, 2017)
Ranked No. 20 for the first time since 2009, ASU goes 7-0 for the first time since 1980-81. Romello White scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds, followed by four other players also scoring double-digit points. Over 11 minutes, the Sun Devils went 25-3 run creating the largest lead of the game of 21 points.

ASU 102, #15 Xavier 86 (Nov. 24, 2017) (Continental Tire Invitational)
Tra Holder dropped 40 points becoming the fifth highest scorer in Sun Devil history while in Las Vegas for the Continental Tire Invitational. Holder helped lead the Sun Devils with a comeback win over top-15 ranked Xavier. This was the first time the Sun Devils have beaten a top-15 ranked team since beating No. 6 Arizona 81-78 (Feb. 7, 2015).

ASU 92, Kansas State 90 (Nov. 23, 2017) (Continental Tire Invitational)
ASU headed to Las Vegas on Thanksgiving (Nov. 23, 2017) to play at the Orleans Arena in the Continental Tire Invitational. Kodi Justice led the come from behind victory, scoring 19 of his 28 points in the second half creating the tenth comeback victory for coach Bobby Hurley and making the Sun Devils go 5-0 for the second time. Justice made 9-of-10 field goals, 6-of-8 free throws, and went 4-4 in three-pointers.

ASU 99, UC Irvine 78 (Nov. 19, 2017)
ASU took the lead two minutes into the game and never surrendered it. The Devils moved on to go 4-0, which was the first time since the 2013-14 season. Shooting 61.2 percent of their shots (30-of-49) the offense took over going for a 20-2 run. However, defense set the tone with 12:27 left in the half. It was the Sun Devils scoring 90 points in four straight games since Lionel Hollins played from Feb. 28-March 15, 1975.

ASU 97, Northern Arizona 62 (Nov. 17, 2017)
The Sun Devils took control of the Lumberjacks surrendering zero lead changes. Romello White took advantage of the Lumberjacks scoring 25 total points while not only leading the team in points but in blocks as well (two). The team shot 54.5% from three.

ASU 90, San Diego State 68 (Nov. 14, 2017)
Coming from behind ASU used a 14-3 run to take a double digit lead after trailing 11-10. The run started after four blocks were set in a three-minute period, two of the blocks coming from Junior transfer De’Quon Lake. Lake followed up on his previous game to score 15 points and have seven rebounds. This was Bobby Hurley’s ninth halftime deficit comeback win.

ASU 94, Idaho State 74 (Nov. 10, 2017)
ASU opened their 2017-18 with the most points scored in an opening game in ASU history. Junior De'Quon Lake shot 8-of-10, posting 24 points. Lake took over the first half with four dunks and three boards. The Devils shot 52.3 percent from the field.

ASU 98, Central Arkansas 62 (Dec. 22, 2016)
ASU tied a school record with 18 made three-point field goals in a 36-point win over the Bears. Senior Torian Graham had 26 points and seven boards to lead ASU. The 18 three-pointers matched the UNLV (Dec. 3, 2016) and San Francisco (Nov. 20, 2009) efforts.
