The Arizona State men's basketball team opened its 2017-18 campaign with a 94-74 victory over the Idaho State Bengals at Wells Fargo Arena Friday night, led by some usual faces and a couple of athletic newcomers. Junior De'Quon Lake posted 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting. The Sun Devils (1-0) shot 52.3 percent from the field while outrebounding the Bengals (0-1) 41 to 29 in their earliest season opener since the 2013 season.
His presence was felt in the first half, slamming home four dunks while grabbing three boards. Lake concluded the game with eight rebounds and the 24 points was the most in a Sun Devil debut in 14 seasons.

Top-100 2017 signee Remy Martin picked up from his preseason success, scoring 12 points, five assists and added four rebounds. Martin had eight points at halftime while drilling a jumper to beat the buzzer.
Senior Shannon Evans II, coming off of his 50-point performance in the final exhibition game, tallied 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field. Evans II recorded his 10th 20-point scoring game for ASU as he complimented Tra Holder's impressive game.
The fourth-ranked Pac-12 returning scorer, Holder recorded 18 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in 34 minutes.
The Bengals climbed back from an early deficit to tie the contest at 28 with 6:27 left in the first half. The Sun Devils then went on a 11-5 run to go up 39-33 with 3:02 left in the first half. Arizona State then finished the half on a 12-0 run led by Martin's jumper at the buzzer.
The Sun Devils return to Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. MT to face San Diego State. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Networks and heard on AZ Sports 98.7 FM.
