An Irish golf champion’s journey to ASU

Senior (2019-20):
  • Lone senior and leader of the team
  • Had the Sun Devils in position to contend for a conference and national title
  • Only the third four-time All-American in program history, joining Azahara Munoz (2006-09) and Kellee Booth (1995-98) in the exclusive club
  • Earned Honorable Mention All-American distinction from Golfweek
  • Honorable Mention All-American according to the WGCA
  • Placed in the Top-10 twice this season, pushing her career Top-10 finishes total to 20
  • Now has 20 total career rounds in the 60s, one of the Top-25 totals in NCAA history
  • 11 rounds at or under par this season, giving her 65 in her career, putting her in the Top-10 in NCAA record book
  • A career 72.74 stroke average which puts her in the NCAA's Top-25 all-time
  • Finished in the Top-40 of the final Golfstat Individual Rankings for the fourth consecutive year
  • Earned second place at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (-5/208), her best finish of the season
  • Played her best golf at the end of the season, placing in the Top-10 at two of her final three tournaments, including a tie for sixth place at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational
  • Finished tied for 13th at the Stanford Intercollegiate (E/213), helping the Sun Devils claim their first Team Championship of the season

Junior (2018-19):
  • Enjoyed one of the best seasons in school history, becoming just the sixth Sun Devil to win three individual titles in one season
  • Golfweek & WGCA Second-Team All-American
  • Competed at the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year
  • Earned co-medalist honors at the Norman Regional, battling through stormy conditions to help ASU qualify for the national title
  • WGCA All-American Scholar
  • Second Team Pac-12 All-Academic Selection
  • Pac-12 First Team All-Conference selection
  • 2019 Pac-12 Individual Champion
  • Arizona State's 13th Pac-12/10 Champion, the most of any program in the conference
  • Made up four strokes on the final day to force a playoff at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships, defeating Stanford's Albane Valenzuela with a par on the 18th hole
  • Earned a Top-10 finish on six different ocassions, giving her 19-career Top-10's
  • Finished T12 individually at the World Amateur Team Championships with Ireland in August
  • Won the Bruin Wave invitational individually (Feb. 25-26, 2019)
  • Tied her career low (65) and set a new course record at Papago on Mar. 30 in the first PING/ASU Invitational at the Sun Devils' new course
Sophomore (2017-18):
  • Mehaffey “excited” after maiden win (by Brian Keough, Feb. 14, 2018/Irish Golf Desk)
  • Competed in all 13 tournaments with 8 top-10 finishes
  • Named Golfweek Preseason Third Team All-American
  • 10th in Women's Amateur Golf Rankings to start the collegiate season
  • Finished fall 2017 with three top-10 finishes, with her best finish a tie for 2nd at East Lake Cup
  • At East Lake Cup, won the first point for the Sun Devils in both the semifinals vs. Stanford and the finals vs. Northwestern 
  • Shot a hole-in-one in the first round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 11)
  • Earned co-medalist honors at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, winning her first collegiate tournament (Feb. 11-13)
  • No. 5 on first ANNIKA Award Watch List of the spring (Feb. 22)
  • Palmer Cup international team 2018, the first time women were included in Palmer Cup competition
  • First Team All-Conference, finishing T5th at Pac-12 Championships
  • Named to Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team for 2018 
  • Pac-12 Second Team All-Academic 
  • WGCA Second Team All-American

  • Qualified for the 2018 U.S. Women's Open in late May-early June 2018
  • WGCA All-American Scholar 
  • Won the Michael Carter "Junior" Memorial Award at the 2018 Palmer Cup, given to one male and one female participant who best represent the qualities and ideals of sportsmanship, integrity, and upholding of the game
  • Shot 13-under for the tournament (65, 66) at the European Ladies' Team Championship (July 10-14, 2018). Shot the lowest score (65/-7) of the day with eight birdies on day one of the championships
  • Shot below par in all four rounds (70, 71, 71, 70) of the European Ladies' Amateur Championship (July 25-28, 2018) for a seventh-place finish
  • Finished third in medal play at the U.S. Women's Amateur (Aug. 6-12, 2018), shooting a four-under 67 and three-under 68 during stroke play. Advanced to the round of 32 in match play with a victory over UC Riverside's Hannah Facchini, 6&5, in the round of 64 
Freshman (2016-17):
  • Finished T15th at the Women's World Amateur Championships in Mexico (Sept. 14-17)
  • Global Golf Post All-Amateur Team
  • Pac-12 First Team All-Conference
  • WGCA Honorable Mention All-American
  • Had four top-10 finishes in spring, with her highest finish at NCAA Regionals (2nd)
  • Won all 3 match play matches early (Florida, Stanford, Northwestern) en route to the team's NCAA championship

Prior to ASU:
  • Ranked No. 5 in the Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings & No. 2 in the European Golf Rankings
  • Helped lead the 2016 Great Britain & Ireland team to the Curtis Cup victory after going 3-1-1
  • Won the Irish Women's Open Championship and the Welsh Ladies Open Stroke Play Championship in 2016
  • Finished 3rd at the 2016 European Ladies' Amateur Championship
  • Holds a scoring average of 72.33
