CAYLINN WALLACE, GOALKEEPER, WATER POLO – 2005-2008

Caylinn Wallace is one of the best goalkeepers in Sun Devil Water Polo history and ranks atop the history books. In her career, she holds the program record with 1,087 saves which ranks second in MPSF history, and is one of two players to record more than 1,000 saves in a career. She ranks second in program history averaging 9.54 saves a game and averaging 271 saves a season, including holding a then-record 346 saves in 2008 for five seasons. In addition, Wallace has four spots in the top 10 for most saves in a season in Sun Devil history. The California native also has the second-most steals in program history with 174. In 2008 she averaged an MPSF-best 10.18 saves a game, leading the Sun Devils to 21 wins and saving 56 percent of shots faced during her senior season, ultimately helping ASU win a then-program record 21 games and defeating top-5 opponents USC and California for the first time in program history, ultimately leading ASU as high as No. 4 in the country. Throughout her four years in Tempe, she earned four MPSF Player of the Week nods, and earned First-Team All-American honors in 2008, including three All-MPSF nominations and a spot on the All-MPSF Freshman Team in 2005 compiling 243 saves. Lastly, she was a three-time MPSF All-Academic honoree.


Arizona State - One of the top goalies in the MPSF, Wallace has stopped 741 shots in three years, averaging 247 saves per season... ranks first in ASU history in saves (741) and saves per game average (9.38)... also is the school record holder in goalie steals (142), season saves (263 in 2007) and saves per game average (10.52 in 2007)... holds the school mark for saves in a single game with 22 in an 8-7 overtime upset of No. 8 UC Santa Barbara during the 2005 season... 2007: Anchored an improved defense, stopping single-season record 263 shots... ranked second in the MPSF among goalies with a 10.52 saves per game average... played in 25 games and stopped double-digit shots in 16 of those games... posted a season-high 15 saves at No. 20 CS Northridge (3/25/07)... recorded 49 steals, which ranks 10th in a single-season at ASU... became the first ASU goalie and only the fifth player in program history to record 100+ steals in a career (142)... earned MPSF All-Academic honors as well as Second Team AWCPA All-Academic recognition...2006: Turned in another strong performance in the cage, stopping 53 percent of the shots she faced... recorded 235 saves, the third-most in a single season at ASU... posted 10 or more saves in 10 games, including four games with 13 or more stops... recorded 13 saves in an 8-5 upset of No. 4 Hawaii before making another 13 stops in a victory over No. 7 Michigan... finished 17th nationally with 235 saves and ranked eighth in saves per game (8.5) average... her saves per game average also was second-best among the MPSF while her save total ranked fourth overall... selected as the Mikasa MPSF Player of the Week (April 23) after recording seven saves and four steals in a 5-4 upset of No. 8 San Diego State... earned Academic All-MPSF accolades... 2005: Capped her first collegiate season by earning selection to the MPSF All-Freshman Team... lead the conference's goalies with a 9.19 saves per game average... ranked fourth in the MPSF with a 6.27 goals per game average while her 243 saves was the third-most on the season... set a school record for saves in a game with 22 in an 8-7 overtime upset of No. 8 UC Santa Barbara (4/3)... performance earned her MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week honors, a first for the ASU program... finished the season with 243 saves... stopped nearly 60 percent of shots faced, allowing 163 goals...also posted 14 games with double-digit save totals.

High School: A 2004 graduate of Laguna Hills High School (Laguna Hills, Calif.)... set school marks in the goal over her four years of playing water polo including assists in a game (53), saves in a season (348), saves in a game (23), all in her senior season... also established school records for career saves (1,012) and assists (123)... earned numerous awards... as a senior, was selected second-team all-CIF, second-team all-county and first-team all-conference... added first-team all-league honors as a sophomore, junior and senior seasons and was team MVP as a sophomore... was selected as the LHHS Female Athlete of the Year as a senior, as well as being selected as the school's nominee for the Female Heisman Award... lettered four times each in water polo and softball and added two more in volleyball... captained the water polo as a junior and senior as well as softball as a senior... was a member of the California Scholarship Federation and an eight-time scholar-athlete.
