- Jade continued to dazzle the Sun Devil faithful, making even the most difficult plays at shortstop look routine in her 55 games played in 2019
- Finished the season with a .347 batting average, a mark that ranked third on the team, and second among players returning to the roster in 2020
- Came on strong later in the season ending the season on a 12-game hit streak, a stretch that included six multi-hit outings
- Her 52 hits in 2019 mark the second highest among players retuning to the roster in 2020, and was just four hits shy of 2018 total, amassed in 61 games played
- Gortarez posted a career-high 15 doubles in her junior campaign
- Was a spark for ASU in the 2019 Tuscaloosa Regional, tallying seven hits and seven RBI in four games played
- Her .567 slugging percentage marked a new career-high, as did her .421 on-base percentage
- The sophomore received all Pac-12 Second team honors in her first season with the Sun Devils.
- One of three players to have started all 61 games for the Sun Devils in the 2018 season.
- Drove in two or more RBI 10 different times throughout the 2018 season.
- In her 195 at-bats, she totaled 39 RBI including 42 runs scored which is second best on the team in both offensive categories.
- Posted home runs in back-to-back games against New Mexico State (3/3) and South Dakota (3/6), finishing the season tied for fourth best in home runs (8) for the team.
- The infielder filed a 2-for-3 performance while recording a season high three RBI and one home run against South Dakota(4/28).
- Appeared in 44 games for the Longhorns, including 40 games in the starting lineup.
- Posted a .246 batting average in her first year of collegiate softball that included six extra base hits and 17 RBI.
- Gortarez finished the year with a .967 fielding percentage.
PRIOR TO TEXAS...
A native of Riverside, Calif., Gortarez lettered four years in varsity baseball along with cross country, basketball and track & field at Hillcrest High School ... As the starting shortstop for the U.S. Women’s National Baseball Team, she helped lead the U.S. to a 6-1 overall record at the 2016 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women’s Baseball World Cup in Gijang, South Korea, a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, to a silver medal at the 2014 Women’s World Cup of Baseball in Japan and to the title at the 2015 COPABE Pan American Games qualifier in the Dominican Republic ... At the 2016 WBSC Women’s Baseball World cup, Gortarez batted .286 overall (4-for-14) with six runs scored, two walks, a double, a triple, a stolen base and four RBIs, while also registering a 1.75 ERA over four total innings of pitching relief ... During the successful 2015 Pan Am Games run, Gortarez posted a .484 on-base percentage as the everyday lead-off hitter while scoring eight runs, drawing eight walks, managing a double, a triple and a pair of RBIs over eight games played ... At the 2014 Women’s Baseball World Cup, she went 8-for-16 (.500) with a double and three RBIs and was named the tournament’s top defensive player.

Daughter of Gilbert and Claudia Gortarez ... Has two siblings, Maya and Millie ... Chose Texas over a list of schools including UCLA, Alabama, Cal State Fullerton, Penn and Harvard ... Cites winning a gold medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games and being on the field for the national anthem at Yankee Stadium as her most memorable moments in sports to this point.
