Sherman, a Sun Devil Swim and Dive alumnus, joined Arizona State as an assistant coach in August 2023.
"Alex is one of the best club coaches in the country and has led swimmers to numerous NAG records," head coach Bob Bowman said of Sherman. "As a Sun Devil, she will bring a special enthusiasm and energy to our team. We are thrilled to have her join us in Tempe."
Sherman joined her alma mater after serving as the senior coach at Swim Neptune in Arizona for the past six years. In her time with Swim Neptune, she was named Arizona Senior Coach of the Year Award in 2021 and led her program to their first senior state championship win, Speedo Sectional win, and top-3 finish for the men's team at Junior Nationals. Sherman has coached swimmers to national age group ecords (4x100 meter Medley Relay 17-18 boys and 200 meter Backstroke 13-14 boys), a junior Pan-Pacific medal, and a World University Games champion.
During her collegiate career she was a school record holder in the 200 IM, placed 3 rd in the 200 Breaststroke at the 2013 PAC-
12 Championships, was a NCAA qualifier and team captain.
Sherman, a Romania native, swam with the Sun Devils from 2012-15 and earned her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014 and her master's degree in Education the following year.
