TEMPE - Sun Devil Swim and Dive welcomes an alum to the program in the hiring of 2015 grad Alex Sherman. Sherman, who set the school record for the 200 IM in 2013, joins the team as an assistant coach.

"Alex is one of the best club coaches in the country and has led swimmers to numerous NAG records," head coach Bob Bowman said. "As a Sun Devil, she will bring a special enthusiasm and energy to our team. We are thrilled to have her join us in Tempe."

Sherman joins her alma mater after serving as the senior coach at Swim Neptune in Arizona for the past six years. In her time with Swim Neptune, she was named Arizona Senior Coach of the Year Award in 2021 and led her program to their first senior state championship win, Speedo Sectional win, and top-3 finish for the men's team at Junior Nationals. Sherman has coached swimmers to national age group ecords (4x100 meter Medley Relay 17-18 boys and 200 meter Backstroke 13-14 boys), a junior Pan-Pacific medal, and a World University Games champion.

Sherman, a Romania native, swam with the Sun Devils from 2012-15 and earned her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014 and her master's degree in Education the following year.
