Joey Guilmet comes to the Sun Devils with more than 20 years of professional experience, including 12 years as the equipment manager for the NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers. He also worked the 2006 Olympic Games for Team USA and the World Championship team in 2001, 2008 and 2009 as well as the 2007 NHL All-Star Game and 1992 MLB All-Star Game. Most recently he was the head equipment manager for the Syracuse Crunch and Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League, where we worked for five years before joining Sun Devil Hockey.
He earned his certification in the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) in 1995 and held a workshop at the 2006 AEMA Meetings demonstrating equipment repair for professional and college equipment managers. At the 2008 Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers Meeting, hosted a workshop on carbon fiber/kydex skate guards protection.
Guilmet hails from San Diego and received his education from Mesa College in San Diego and Gwinnett Tech in Duluth, Ga. He and his wife Michele have a son, Oliver, and daughter, June.
