COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Hockey announced its support staff for the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team on Tuesday, and Arizona State hockey equipment manager Joey Guilmet is one of two named to the staff.
Guilmet, who joined the Sun Devil Hockey staff prior to the inaugural NCAA Division I season, is the only one named to the staff from a college program.
His 20-plus years of professional experience prior to taking the position at ASU -- including 12 years in the NHL with the former Atlanta Thrashers and most recently with the Syracuse Crunch and Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League -- makes him a well-known commodity in the hockey community.
On top of his professional experience, Guilmet has been a part of Team USA's staff at the 2006 Winter Olympics, the World Championship team in 2001, 2008 and 2009, the 2007 NHL All-Star Game and the 1992 MLB All-Star Game.
Guilmet will join the U.S. Junior National Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships (IIHF-WJC) from December 26, 2016 through January 5, 2017 in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.
