OVERVIEW:

  • Benjamin became the 20th Sun Devil in program history to reach 2,000 rushing yards with his effort against Colorado. The junior had 2,867 rushing yards in his career and was one of just five three-year players to find themselves in the 2,000-yard club (Mario Bates, Ben Malone, Art Malone and Woody Green).
  • Benjamin also joined the all-purpose 3,000-yard club this year (3,620) as he eclipsed the 3K all-purpose yards mark for his career against Utah.
  • He had 2,867 rushing yards in his career and finished seventh-place on the school's all-time rushing list. His 576 rushing attempts were the sixth-most in school history.
  • He carried the ball a school-record 300 times in 2018 and compiled 253 rushing attempts in 2019, the third-highest total in program history.
  • Benjamin recorded 15 career games (six in 2019) with at least 100 rushing yards - good for 4th in program history. He also had 18 career games in which he reached century mark in total all-purpose yards.
  • He had at least one touchdown (rushing or receiving) in 18 games in his career. He had 27 career rushing touchdowns, only one shy of cracking the Top-5 in program history despite receiving the majority of his snaps in just two seasons. He had 32 total touchdowns (27 rushing, 4 receiving, and 1 blocked return) in his career.
Junior (2019)
  • The junior was 4th in the Pac-12 with 10 rushing touchdowns during the regular season. His 12 total touchdowns were fifth in the league and 37th nationally. He was 4th in the league with 119.17 all-purpose yards per game.
  • Benjamin continued to do his part to make people miss, forcing 72 missed tackles in the regular season - a total tied for 10th nationally among running backs. He was 22nd nationally with 739 yards after contact (68.2 percent of his 1,083 rushing yards).
  • He rushed for 19 first downs in the regular season when the team was facing third down - tied for 12th nationally among FBS running backs.
  • Benjamin helped rally the offense when attempting to come back, recording 22 rushing first downs when the team was trailing by 7 or fewer points - the second-highest total nationally in the regular season - while his seven rushing touchdowns while trailing by a touchdown or less were first in the FBS and his 354 yards in the situation were 8th nationally.
  • He played 341 snaps in passing routes in the regular season, the second-highest total among FBS running backs while his 56 targets were fourth. He was targeted on 21.6 percent of ASU aimed passes (balls not thrown away, spiked or batted) - the 15th-highest percentage of running backs nationally.
  • His 347 receiving yards in the regular season were sixth among all FBS running backs and his 42 receptions were tied for fifth in the nation.
  • The junior running back was voted an offensive captain by his teammates.

  • Broke the single-season school record rushing for 1,642 yards this season, passing the previous record of 1,565 yards held by Woody Green in 1972
  • Set the ASU school record with 300 carries this season and nine games reaching at least 100-yards rushing
  • Tied for fifth nationally with 1,642 rushing yards while his 16 rushing touchdowns put him ninth in the country. Both totals led the Pac-12 Conference.
  • Became the first ASU running back to finish in the Top-10 nationally in single-season rushing yards.
  • His 146.54 all-purpose yards per game were ninth nationally and second in the Pac-12
  • He is the highest-graded running back in the Pac-12 (88.7), a score that is also good for third nationally
  • 10th-highest graded offensive player in the Pac-12 and 29th regardless of position nationally (82.7)
  • Forced 94 missed tackles this season – third-most in the FBS
  • His 31 explosive runs this season were fifth among FBS running backs
  • Rushed for 81 first downs, the third most nationally

  • Broke the single-game school record for rushing yards in a game in a victory over Oregon State (9/29), rushing for 312 yards and three touchdowns on only 30 carries 
  • Set the tone for what would end up being a record-breaking season, rushing 16 times for 131 yards in the season opener against UTSA (9/1)
  • Was dominant over a four-game stretch (10/27-11/17) helping ASU go 3-1, totaling 119 carries for 691 yards (172.8 yards/g) with five touchdowns
  • Took over the game when the Sun Devils picked up a road victory at USC (10/27), finishing with 29 carries for 185 yards and two touchdowns 
  • Played outstanding in the upset victory over No. 16 Utah (11/3), going for 175 yards on 27 carries while adding a pair of touchdowns
  • Had a season-high 34 carries, rushing for 182 yards and a touchdown in a victory over UCLA (11/10)

Freshman (2017)
  • Took advantage of enrolling early, participating in spring practice helping him make the transition to the college game
  • Appeared in 10 games for the Sun Devils as a reserve running back and kickoff return specialist
  • Carried the ball 23 times, accumulating 142 yards while scoring a touchdown as a true freshman
  • Finished with five carries going for 52 yards during a breakout performance against Colorado, including an electrifying 19-yard touchdown run
  • Returned a blocked punt nine yards for a touchdown against UCLA
  • Attempted six returns on kickoffs, totaling 119 yards with a long of 25 yards

High School
  • Selected as a member of the West roster in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl (carried the ball three times for 24 yards, including a 17-yard run), where he was a teammate of fellow signees Brandon Ruiz and Kaelib Jarrell
