In Ryan Wrublik's second season, the season was unusually short. The team was ranked for three different weeks until the season was cut short due to concerns regarding COVID-19. During that time, the team did not lose to an unranked team, continuing the trend from 2019.
In 2019, Wrublik helped ASU earned a 21-14 record in his first season as the assistant coach, tallying the most wins in program history. The victory total beat out the previous high of 16, reached in 2017. The season culminated with Arizona State’s best outing at the Pac-12 Championship, winning two matches for the first time. ASU beat three top-20 teams during the season: No. 16 Grand Canyon, No. 10 Cal and No. 20 Stanford. Additionally, the Sun Devils did not lose a single match to an unranked team in 2019.
Wrublik was named an assistant coach for Arizona State beach volleyball in the fall of 2018 following two years as a volunteer assistant with the Sun Devils. In addition to his work at ASU, Wrublik also coaches at the club team One Beach, where he is a director and lead coach. He works with the 14 Select and 18 Select teams.
Before sticking with the beach, Wrublik spent time coaching indoor volleyball. From 2012-15, he was the varsity head coach at Shadow Mountain High School. From 2012-2017, he coached at Club One AZ as an assistant coach with the 14, 15, 16 and 17 Platinum squads.
Wrublik has earned the following coaching certifications: USAV Beach Impact, USAV Beach CAP, Gold Medal Squared and Safesport and AZ Region Background.
As a player, Wrublik has seven years of experience playing in semi-professional tournaments such as EVP Qualifiers, EVP Pro Tour, AVP Next, AVP Qualifiers, CBVA Opens and AA and AAA Tournaments.
He earned a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Arizona State in 2011.
Wrublik lives in Gilbert with his wife Kara, their son Grant and their three fur babies (two dogs and one cat). He still plays beach volleyball competitively, but he spends a majority of his time with his family and coaching. He has a strong passion for learning and growing and spends any time left over reading, writing and studying how to better understand people, leadership and how to better teach and motivate. He grew up in Wickenburg, Arizona.
