TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State beach volleyball head coach Brad Keenan has officially announced that Ryan Wrublik has been named the assistant coach, a promotion from his previous role as a volunteer assistant.
"Ryan showed over two years as a volunteer coach that he possessed the knowledge and willingness to learn that is essential in an assistant coach," Keenan said. "After interviewing potential candidates, he continued to stand out, and we are excited to have Ryan as an assistant to help continue the growth of this program."
Wrublik was named an assistant coach following two years as a volunteer assistant with the Sun Devils. In addition to his work at ASU, Wrublik also coaches at the club team One Beach, where he is a director and a lead coach. He works with the 14 Select and 18 Select teams.
Before sticking with the beach, Wrublik spent time coaching indoor volleyball. From 2012-15, he was the varsity head coach at Shadow Mountain High School. From 2012-2017, he coached at Club One AZ as an assistant coach with the 14, 15, 16 and 17 Platinum squads.
Wrublik has consistently strived to learn more, both in and outside of volleyball. He has earned several coaching certifications: USAV Beach Impact, USAV Beach CAP, Gold Medal Squared, and Safesport and AZ Region Background. Additionally, he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Arizona State in 2011.
As a player, Wrublik has seven years of experience playing in semi-professional tournaments such as EVP Qualifiers, EVP Pro Tour, AVP Next, AVP Qualifiers, CBVA Opens, and AA and AAA Tournaments.
"I am so extremely grateful for this incredible opportunity and for the faith Brad Keenan and Sun Devil Athletics have put in me to fulfill this role," Wrublik said. "I am so blessed to get the chance to work with such an extraordinary group of athletes and coworkers. I am very excited to see what this year brings and I am confident that we are at a turning point in the program, with all the right pieces in place for accelerated growth and long-term success."
Wrublik lives in Gilbert with his wife Kara and their son Grant. He still plays beach volleyball competitively, but he spends a majority of his time with his family and coaching. He has a strong passion for learning and growing and spends any time left over reading, writing and studying how to better understand people, leadership and how to better teach and motivate.
