Senior opposite Marta Levinska notched 18 kills in the win on a .382 clip and moved into 13th place in the ASU record book for career kills (1,189) passing Terri Cox (1994-97). The defense was on another level in the victory, with two reaching double-digit digs. CROSS COUNTRY FALLS TO ARIZONA AT PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS/OCT. 27, 2023
(ARIZONA EARNS TWO POINTS, ARIZONA LEADS 2-0.5)

The Sun Devil men's and women's cross country teams battled the chill of winter-like temperatures at the 2023 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships in Washington. In the men's 8k, a quartet of younger Sun Devils led with way with sophomores Tyler Schierenberg (60th) Johnathan Estrada (62nd) and Kristian Kimberlin (72nd) and freshman Ethan Bukowski (74th) all finishing in the Top 75. As a team, the Sun Devil men placed ninth. On the women's side, the inverse was true as three of ASU's top performers were members of the junior or senior class: senior Sadie Heeringa (59th), junior Claire Le Gallo (83rd), sophomore Mia Chavez (90th) and senior Gracie Carr (96th). The Sun Devil women concluded the race 12th in the team standings.

SOCCER IS BESTED BY THE CATS/NOV. 3, 2023
(ARIZONA EARNS ONE POINT, ARIZONA LEADS (3-0.5)

After cutting a two-goal deficit in half, a series of near misses prevented the Sun Devil soccer team from coming away with a result in a 2-1 loss at Arizona. ASU ended the match with advantages in shots (12-10), shots on goal (6-4) and corner kicks (10-4/7-1 in the second half). The game was a physical encounter as time had to be called numerous times to tend to injured players. The best scoring opportunity either team had in the first half occurred in the 40th minute when Arizona's Sami Baytosh was able to maneuver the ball into a dangerous area before firing a shot that Sun Devil goalkeeper Pauline Nelles was able to get just enough of to prevent a goal. Even after Nelles' effort, the ball continued to roll parallel to the goal line. With another Arizona attacker closing in to finish the job, Sun Devil all-everything defender Lieske Carleer swooped in to make a remarkable clearance and keep the game scoreless. ASU found itself in an even deeper hole in the 54th minute after it was whistled for a foul while Arizona was attacking in the box. Nicole Dallin was successful on the ensuing penalty kick to extend Arizona's lead to 2-0.

BASEBALL SPLITS SERIES WITH ARIZONA/MAY 7, 2024
(ASU AND ARIZONA EARN HALF POINT, ARIZONA LEADS (10-8)

Sun Devil Baseball dropped the finale of its nine-game homestand against rival Arizona. With the defeat, ASU split the regular season series with the Wildcats, with each school winning two games apiece. ASU took the first two games in Tucson in March. With one out in the bottom of the second, Mendoza and Jackson collected consecutive hits, a single and double. But ASU failed to capitalize on having two runners in scoring position. Mario Demera hit a grounder back to the pitcher on a check swing and Mendoza was tagged out at home. The next hitter flew out to center to end the inning. In the top of the third, Arizona took a 3-0 lead after a leadoff home run and a two-run home run with no outs. Eamonn Lance led off the final frame as a pinch hitter and mashed a solo home run to inch the Sun Devils closer into a two-run deficit, but it wasn't enough. ASU was unable to produce any more baserunners, falling 5-3 to the Wildcats.
