'Good Samaritan' Estes Released from Hospital (State Press--Oct. 15, 2011)

2011-12 (Junior Season)
• Stephen survived being struck by a truck on the freeway during his junior year. The truck was totaled, he was not. He used his free time to become backgammon master, and is currently #7 in the world.
• Even after the accident, Stephen went on to qualify for the 2012 US Olympic Trials in the 100 breast.

2010-11(Sophomore Season)
• First team Pac-10 All-Academic selection with a 3.79 GPA in mechanical engineering.
• Placed in top 16 at PAC-10s in the 100 breast.
• Swam the 100 and 200 breast for the Sun Devils.
• Top 10 ASU • Swam a season-best 56.80 in the 100 breast at the Arena Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
• Also touched in with a season-best in the 200 breast at the Arena Invitational with a time of 2:10.15.

2009-10 (Freshman Season)
• Was one of the Sun Devils' top breaststrokers
• Clocked in a career-best of 55.52 in the 100 breast at the Pac-10 Championships
• Finished in 2:06.62 in the 200 breast
• Fastest 50 free of the season was at the Tiger Invitational, 24.72

National Success
• Qualified for the 2012 US Olympic Trials in the 100 breast

High School:
•A 2009 graduate of North High School in Phoenix, Ariz.
•Captain of the swim team for two years
•Swim MVP for two years, All-American for two years, and a four-time state champion (three relays and one individual)
•Was a member of the National Honor Society and was also named an Academic All-American
•Lists most exciting sports moment as winning state as a senior

•Majoring in mechanical and aerospace engineering at ASU
