Arizona State University has signed 23 student-athletes to national letters of intent Wednesday to study and participate in football, head coach Todd Graham announced.
Coach Graham's first signing class at ASU provides the Sun Devils with excellent talent on offense, defense and special teams and includes players from multiple states across the country as well as outside the United States' borders.
The class consists of 14 freshmen, eight juniors and one sophomore. Three of the juniors are midyear transfers already on campus that will participate in spring practice.
ASU's 2012 signing class includes:
- Players from eight different states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Washington) and one from Canada.
- Eight high school players ranked among the nation's top-40 at their position: D.J. Foster (Rivals.com, No. 5 ATH), Easton Wahlstrom (Scout.com, No. 5 LS), Evan Goodman (Scout.com, No. 16 OT), Stephon McCray (ESPN, No. 21 OG), Salamo Fiso (Rivals.com, No. 26 LB), Richard Smith (Scout.com, No. 31 CB), Matthew Rowe (ESPN, No. 37 OLB).
- Six junior college signees ranked in the nation's top-100: RB Marion Grice (SuperPrep, No. 5 overall), CB Oliver Johnson (SuperPrep, No. 21 overall), LB Steffon Martin (Rivals.com, No. 34 overall), DL Mike Pennel (Rivals.com, No. 36 overall), DL Jake Sheffield (SuperPrep, No. 57 overall), WR Alonzo Agwuenu (SuperPrep, No. 62 overall).
