Men's Golf Posts Second-Best Score Of Second Round

The men's golf team posted a second-round 1-over 281, the second-best team score of the day, to move up to a tie for fifth at the NCAA West Regional held at Stanford. Senior Pat Moore continued his strong play with a 1-under 69, as he is now tied for second with a 2-under 138.

Senior Jesse Mueller is tied for 21st with a 3-over 143 (72-71), while sophomore Niklas Lemke (75-71) is 6-over at 146. Charly Simon is tied for 60th at 7-over 147 (74-73), while 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares is tied for 68th at 8-over 148. Canizares shot an even-70 after shooting an 8-over on Thursday.

UNLV had the best round of the day with a 3-under 277 and leads the 27-team field with a 2-under 558 (281-277). ASU (290-281) is tied for fifth with Pepperdine at 11-over 571, as the top 10 teams qualify for the national championships held June 1-4 at Owings Mills, Md. USC is currently in 10th place at 18-over 578.

The top ten teams after Saturday's final 18 holes advance to the NCAA Championships.
