Pat Moore Tied For Fifth After First Round Of NCAA West Regional

Senior Pat Moore shot a 1-under 69 and is tied for fifth after the first 18 holes of the NCAA West Regional held at Stanford. ASU is tied for 12th at 10-over 290 and is 12 shots back of first-round leader BYU (278).

Moore, who has posted three straight top-10 finishes, won the U.S. Intercollegiates at the same course April 16-17.

The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA championships held June 1-4 at Owings Mills, Md.

Senior Jesse Mueller is tied for 34th at 2-over 72 while Charly Simon is tied for 70th at 4-over 74.

Sophomore Niklas Lemke is at 5-over 75 (tied for 90th) while 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares shot an 8-over 78 and is tied for 120th.

ASU is just one shot back of two teams tied for tenth, as host Stanford and South Carolina are both at 9-over 289.

The teams will play 18 holes both Friday (May 20) and Saturday (21).
