The Arizona State men's golf team is ranked 17th in the country in the latest rankings compiled by Golfweek. Two ASU team members ranked in the top 50 overall.
Freshman Alejandro Canizares is ranked 24th and has the lowest stroke average on the team at 71.27 over five tournaments. In only his freshman season, Canizares has already won the National Invitational Tournament and has finished only one tournament above par.
Chez Reavie is ranked 32nd overall with a 71.40 stroke average. Reavie also has eight top ten finishes in ten tournaments. The junior from Mesa has been one of the most consistent players for the Sun Devils scoring the most rounds under par with eight.
Arizona State is coming off of a record setting performance in the Thunderbird Invitational held at the Karsten Golf Course shooting a 40-under 824. This was the fourth time in five years that ASU has won the Thunderbird Invitational. The top finishers for ASU were Chez Reavie and Brady Stockton, who both fired scores of 10-under 206 to tie for fifth.
ASU will next compete in the Pac-10 Championships on April 28-30 in Los Angeles.
