TEMPE, Ariz. - Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick and Clemson linebacker Keith Adams headline the Preseason All-America Football Team announced by Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook.
Vick, a sophomore, led Virginia Tech to the national championship game last year in the Sugar Bowl where the Hokies lost to Florida State. He posted a 180.4 passing efficiency rating, the second-best in NCAA history. Vick threw for 1,840 yards and 12 touchdowns, ran for 585 yards, eight more scores and had a rushing play of 20 yards or more in 10 of the 11 games in which he played.
Adams, a junior, set the school and conference record with his 35 tackles for loss, which was tops in the NCAA, and tied the school record with 16 sacks, which was second in the nation behind Virginia Tech's Corey Moore. And even with the inconsistent criteria used at different schools, Adams had more tackles (186, including the Peach Bowl) than any player in the country.
The premier edition of Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook will be available for mail order by mid-July (1-800-828-4667). It will be in bookstores in early August.
