Senior (2013):
Named Pac-12 Player of the Week on March 19 for the final weekend of play prior to the start of the Pac-12 schedule. Had a single-game career high four hits against No. 15 Michigan on March 15. Had two home runs and four RBI against UC Davis on March 10; also had a pair of home runs against Portland state on Feb. 24, giving her four games of multiple homers in her career. Hit well in Pac-12, including two-hit games on the road at Stanford and Arizona and a four-RBI showing against California on April 26. Hit a grand slam against No. 10 California on April 26 to give ASU five on the year. At the end of the regular season, ranks in career ASU records in the Top 20 for home runs (t12th), RBI (10th), hits (16th) and doubles (21st). Named Pac-12 All Conference Honorable Mention on May 15. Off the field, was honored for her work in the classroom with First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors on May 2, which put her on the ballot for Academic All-America which she was awarded First Team honors on May 23.
Junior (2012):
Played in 52 games with 51 starts, had 35 hits, 32 runs scored, 26 RBI and three home runs: against Minnesota, and two against Louisiana during the NCAA Super Regionals on May 25.Posted a season single-game high three hits against No. 16 Stanford (April 20), and three RBI against Minnesota (Feb. 18), Named First Team Pac-12 All-Academic (June 5).
Sophomore (2011):
Recorded the second most runs on the season with 49 while starting all 66 games. Sam nabbed 63 hits on 204 attempts, marking a .309 batting average. That average included 13 home runs, which ties for 15th most in Sun Devil history and pulls her career total to 14, which is tied for 19th in the record book. She also successfully stole six bases and had 43 RBI. Named Second Team Pac-10 All-Academic.
Freshman (2010):
Earned a starting position at second base. Hit at a .311 clip on the year with 19 runs scored with four doubles a triple and a home run. Collected seven wins for ASU last season including wins over top-10 teams like Arizona and UCLA for ASU's first sweep of UCLA in Westwood in program history and the program first run-ruling of in-state rival, Arizona.
High School:
A stand-out for the Basha High School Bears, Sam lettered four times in softball while collecting a trophy case worth of accolades including: two-time East Valley Tribune Player of the Year, 2008 & 2009 5A AZ State Softball Champion, Arizona Republic All-Arizona Team and First-Team All-State, as well as being named twice to the East Valley Tribune All-State First-Team.
In addition to winning back-to-back state championships her junior and senior year, Sam also helped lead her team to a seventh place finish at the ASA Gold Nationals in 2009, and a second place finish at 16U Nationals in 2006. She lists her most exciting moment in sports as winning her first state championship.
Personal:
The family and human development major was born in Chicago, Ill., to Keith and Karen Parlich of Chandler, Ariz. She is the oldest of two with one younger sister, Danielle and her full name is Samantha Ashley Parlich. Hobbies include swimming, hiking and tanning.
