2020-21 (Graduate)
Singles: 11-7 | Doubles: 9-9
- Was the top singles player, earning an 11-7 record on court one.
- Played doubles primarily with Lauryn John-Baptiste, going 8-9 on court one.
- Had two singles wins and and two doubles wins against opponents from ranked teams.
- Played in the NCAA Singles Championships and advanced to the second round by defeating No. 59 Megan Davies (South Carolina).
- Led the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
- All-Pac-12 Second Team.
- Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
- CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District.
- Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
2019-20 (Senior):
Singles: 15-9 | Doubles: 16-5
- Went 15-9 in singles play in the fall and spring season - tied with Hampton.
- Defeated three ranked opponents in the fall.
- Played the most ranked opponents of any Sun Devil (15)
- Defeated two ranked opponents in the spring including No. 28 Georgia Drummy of Vanderbilt.
- Combined for a 16-5 record in doubles on court one.
- Ranked in doubles from 1/19 to 3/10, defeating two ranked opponents.
- Ended the season on a four-match win streak with Kolarova.
- Finished 2020 ranked as the No. 46 doubles tandem with Tereza Kolarova.
- Concluded 2020 ranked as No. 40 in singles.
- Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2018-19 (Junior):
- Earned back-to-back All-America honors in doubles by finishing as the No. 8 tandem in the nation with Lauryn John-Baptiste.
- Hattingh/John-Baptiste was named Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year.
- Earned second team All-Conference honors.
- As a duo, the pairing was ranked No. 1 on two separate occasions, becoming the first tandem in school history to earn the ranking.
- Played most of the season as ASU's Court 1 and finished with an 8-5 (3-4 in conference) record in dual-match play.
- Put together a 2-4 record in the fall.
- Played the most ranked opponents of any Sun Devil (13)
- Biggest win of the season came when she swept No. 25 Melissa Lord of Stanford 6-1, 6-2 in Palo Alto.
- Longest unbeaten streak of the season (nine-matches) ran from Jan. 19 to Feb. 24 and included four wins.
- Playing alongside John-Baptiste, Hattingh amassed a 15-5 doubles record in the spring and a 5-2 fall record.
- Started the season on a 12-match unbeaten streak that included eight wins.
- Defeated 10 doubles teams ranked in the top-75, including No. 3 Kulikov/Valdes of Southern California.
- Ilze Hattingh was about to quit tennis. Now she's No. 1 nationally in doubles at ASU (by Jeff Metcalfe, azcentral.com/April 23, 2019)
- All-conference honorable mention.
- Earned first-team All-America honors as a member of the Sun Devil doubles duo that advanced to the NCAA quarterfinal round.
- Finished her debut season with a 7-8 regular-season record, going 6-6 on court two.
- Clinched two matches for the Sun Devils, including their conference win over Washington State.
- Hattingh/John-Baptiste started the season an impressive 12-0 and finished ranked in the top-15 of the Oracle-ITA doubles rankings.
- Ranked as high as No. 599 WTA singles and No. 405 WTA doubles.
- Ranked as high as No. 49 in the world on the ITF Junior Circuit.
- Made the Round of 16 at the Australian Open Junior Championships
- Represented South Africa in Fed Cup
- Has won one singles title and 10 doubles titles on the ITF Futures Circuit
Longest match you have ever played? I played an ITF Grade 3 in Parek, Malaysia and had a 4-hour match (luckily I won). 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 6-4.
What is your favorite shot? Forehand is my favorite shot and my weapon.
Favorite commentator? Robbie Koenig (South African)
Favorite grand slam? Why? Australian Open by far!!! Everyone is so friendly, everything is blue and I had my best results there!
Favorite song from your favorite artist? Hallelujah-Jamie Sloan
What is a quote that you live by? “WORRY LESS, SMILE MORE. DON’T REGRET, JUST LEARN AND GROW.”
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? To be able to fly a helicopter, that is one of my dreams and I’m definitely going to do it!

What's your favorite TV show and why? Suits, because everyone makes clever jokes and remarks.
What is your favorite meal of the day? Breakfast!
What is your favorite season in the year? Summer because I love to be outside!
What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas because it brings you closer to God and family.
What three words would you use to describe yourself? Optimist, respectful and kind.
What is your favorite food? Steak with fries and deep-fried onion rings.
What is your favorite candy? This is so difficult because I love any candy but I would say M&M’s
What is a place/country that you have always wanted to visit? Iceland
What was the most exciting game you have ever been a part of? I was the Captain of a provincial hockey team and we won the tournament! It was so amazing!
What is your favorite dessert? Dom Pedro
What got you into playing tennis? My parents used to play club tennis and I would always sit and watch them and hit a few balls against the wall.
What is your favorite thing about Arizona State? My favorite thing about ASU is just being around so many students and student athletes and then obviously being able to see the amazing sunsets!
